Sorry! Confused ,

Are you trying to request the removal of both 1Gb sticks & try one 2Gb stick in both ram slots singularly to test the individual ram slots?

Best regards,

Yes, it's second test. But first one - 2x2Gb.
Don't boot operating system, just enter in BIOS.
If success then make a photo of main page.

Hi DB,

Okay so if I am reading this right:

1) Shut down PC remove both 1 gig ram sticks insert both 2Gb ram sticks into both slots then enter into the BIOS (Main Page) take a photo.

2) Shut down PC remove one 2 gig ram stick alternately & try and Boot PC, (i.e then shut down PC try the other 2 gig ram stick and try and boot again). Under this second scenario will you require photo of the main page of BIOS screen for reference?

Please understand this may take some time so I will need to get back to you on this?

Best Regards,

Hi DBringer,

As requested please find in the zip attachment I have compiled a report by CPU-Z portable as in this instance I was able to Boot to the windows desktop (post taking pics of BIOS Screen) along with photo's of the BIOS in respect of the main page & Physical/Available memory.

Quickie Breakdown:

1) Shut down PC Removed 2 x1 Gb ram sticks and replaced with 2 x 2Gb sticks in available ram slots booted into BIOS Took picture of main page + Physical/Available memory details Physical memory read 960Mb, Available memory read 959Mb then rebooted into windows XP desktop read system Properties Celeron CPU 3.06Ghz 960Mb Ram & has Physical address extension. Then went into CPU-Z portable (under memory tab) and it reads 4 gig of Ram as you would expect on DDR2 DRAM frequency 265.7Mhz. Observation, it has never booted to XP desktop until today?

2) Shut down PC removed single stick of 2Gb ram left the ram stick in nearest the CPU/Fan etc rebooted to BIOS took second set of Pics system properties now reads 960Mb Ram however CPU-Z reads 2 gig of RAM, Available memory reads 959Mb. the same set of results are recorded when I removed the single stick of RAM and relocated in the second slot. Observation, the system refused to boot to the windows Desktop and locked up just before the windows logon screen on the scenario when the RAM stick was the furthest from the CPU.

3) When I transferred back to the 2No 1Gb sticks of Ram the "system properties" reads 1.93Gb of RAM. I hope this will provide you with the information to establish if a modification can be undertaken to upgrade the ram settings in the BIOS

OK. Now I need good photos of your 2Gb DIMMs.
And make CPU-Z report with 2x1Gb.

Hi DBringer Smile ,

Just a quickie,

I am not at home until 08:30pm tonight but I will will attend to your request later if that is okay? I have downloaded the universal BIOS Backup tool, I could also make a copy of my existing BIOS later if that is any use to you, also I think it saves your BIOS as a .Rom file & I could upload that if it would be of help?

The CPU-z report was when both 2 Gb sticks were in their slots but I can do it again if you want?

Best Regards CYA later,

Hi DBringer Big Grin ,

As requested please note the zip attachment that includes Pics of ram chips + an internal pic of ram setup within PC for 2 x 1 Gb ram chips within there slots and also the CPU-Z Txt report with the 2 X 1 Gb of RAM installed.

Please can you give me a hint as to whether you think it will be possible to upgrade the BIOS to read the 4Gig of Ram?

Much Obliged
