Just wanted to post my grateful thanks to you for your helpful advice in respect of the ram upgrade.
I have decided to ditch trying to upgrading the ram in favour of upgrading my PC. The newer PC on offer already has 4 Gb of ram already installed & is a better PC all round.
I tried flashing the BIOS but ended up in an exercise in futility, no A:\ drive, then didn't recognize one when I installed one, USB proved un-bootable, bootable removable drive didn't work either, CD option - looking on the WWW. many stated not a good idea, some things are just best left alone LOL!
