Really don't know what to do with this one.

BIOS is corrupted, won't POST.

Hi there,

How was it bricked? Were you attempting to do an upgrade? Normally Gigabyte boards have auto-recovery features enabled to recover from a bad flash, so I'd recommend checking your motherboard manual to see if your motherboard supports that feature.

Also, if your chip is removable then they can be re-programmed at a local PC shop easily. If you can't find anyone who can do this we can re-program your chip if it is shipped to us.

Hi,

I was overclocking slightly in gradual increments and then i got a post screen warning saying I had to change the settings in order to boot. So I put them back down and still wouldn't boot. So I then put everything back to factory settings and after that it won't even post.

Now I have tried resetting cmos (jumper and battery removal) and still no post. Also tried minimal setup (on board graphics, 1 stick of ram) and still nothing. Have also tested all of the components (except cpu but i did try the board with a different one, no joy) and all are fine. Also tried using a usb flash stick but that didn't work either and i don't have a floppy drive otherwise I would try recovering bios from that.

I don't get any sound from the motherboard speaker and of course no display, the fans spin very low, but tried it without the 4pin 12v (just out of curiosity, not sure if this was a good idea) and the fans spin fast but still no post.

So Through all this I can only deduct that it is the bios chip or the motherboard could be toast but I reckon (and hope) the former. Now I have found a pre-programmed chip but it's about £15 and no guarantee it would work, plus i'd have to de-solder the old chip and re-solder the new.

Thank you,
Angels.

Hi Angels,

This is a tough one, and normally not a good sign. Have you made any progress with it yet?
