I would need someone's help to unlock EIST settings inthe BIOS, possibly C1E too.

Hi,

This is AMI BIOS & it is UEFI-based BIOS. The BIOS modules are similar with Insyde BIOS. I can only unlocked EIST, if they use the same method to set the lock bit (MSR 1A0h bit 20). I'll see what I can do.

According to your notebook specification, it has Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor P7450. Unfortunately, P7450 doesn't support IDA (source).

Kizwan: thanks a lot, but then don't waste your time with this, the CPU stays for now in the machine (yes, it's a p7450). Sony does not support the CPU upgrade, and we don't want to loose the warranty. Thank you again for the quick answer!
