HP MCP61PM-HM (Nettle2) 5.27 With Unlocked Overclocking Options
Are you using the stock BIOS when you tested the 9350e? Its been a long while since I've tested this, but would recommend the ABIT BIOS for getting it to work on the 1.0b revision (Nettle2).

I'm very happy to see this old thread's still going and wish to thank the Admins and knowledgeable contributors. I remember the thrill of victory and agony of defeat it brought me and to the victor go the spoils. I was able to play Skyrim with decent settings. I know I still have 1 board tucked away maybe 2.

Yo! Newbie here. Just here to say that reading this thread was very helpful, and as I have one nettle2 board with me and a couple am2+/am3 processors ( and one athlon 64 that is working in the system ) I decided to fiddle a bit to see if I can do something. 'will very probably destroy the thing or abandon it in the process, but still, those things are like that.

The processors in question are: Phenom X3 8450 ( 95w, I think ), 2x Semprom 140 ( dunno, prob 45w or something ). Already tested with the bios that coulda still be download, aka M613Z_19 and ABIT_UNLOCKED, [edit begin] and well, none of them did post [edit end]. Fiddling with the first of those to see what happens. If something DO happen, I will come back.

@TheWiz

In Post #440, you laid out some Phenoms you were able to get working.

Any chance you have a BIOS to support a Phenom X4 9350e (HD9350ODJ4BGH) in an mcp61pm-hm rev 1.0b motherboard?

It "seems" like a 9350e would fall nicely within that lineup you noted.

It's a 65w Chip, but when turning it on, it only starts fans (power light remains off).

It was a lie. I have tried nearly every processor they claim would work. They don't ( I tried both phenom and phenom II processors., a 9150e didn't even try to post!) and when I tried asking about it I was ignored by the ones holding on to the lie. The best processor I got to post and ultimately settled on was a 89w dual core athlon64 6000+.

Pitbull71 they also said, however, that just in some boards of this "series" they worked ( if I'm not wrong the PM-AM one, and one that Whisky had that was modified at a hardware level ). They did not even granted that it woulda work for everyone. For the other ones, they said that they woulda look into the issue and try to do something. It seems that thay tried really hard into finding a solution, but they reached a wall, in part because of the somewhat outdated aBit Bios, and in part because the lack of documentation at the time. It's still hard to find things related to those amd bios of the sockets that accepted the 8th and 10th families of processors. And the ones that can be found are somewhat hard to catch ( that is, for me who have a near zero experience with the subject, although I'm trying to do something ). I'm looking in some forums and in the Bios and Kernel Dev. Guide for AMD 10h family to see if I catch something that may help.

The first paragraph in this thread plainly states and I quote!

"We finally have some really really exciting news. The battle for these common boards to have stable OC menus, voltage modification, Phenom II support, and a professional retail BIOS has finally come. Our most helpful members banana19 and MrTangoWhiskey have found an ABIT retail BIOS, that successfully flashes to all of the OEM boards mentioned with full control of voltage, OC, and has support for all Phenom I/II proccessors."

It doesn't say some, it doesn't say maybe.

It was a lie!

Well, you have a point that in the first page of the thread it was said that, but it also was not well managed, and in subsequent posts, as I will share some here ( by page and author of the post, do not know how to quote here ), they correct those afirmations, as in:

Page 70, The Wiz;

Page 73, Tango and The Wiz;

Page 80, Tango;

And there's more around there, but whatever. Also, they did replied things related to this thread in other threads, such as the Tango's answer in the following thread:  (Request) ECS Nettle2 new bios (bios-mods.com)
