HP does not provide a binary of the ROM, just an executable for update. The following is what I learned from the utility:

AMI Firmware Update Utility Version 2.38, HP Version 04 B04
SSID ROM Family 2AE2


Can someone advise what is the "best" application to extract the ROM from the BIOS so I can post it here? Since this is the most likely route to my request, I will also need the "best" recommendation for writing the modified BIOS. Thanks!

After more research on this site regarding HP bios update *.exe, I was successful in using WinRAR to unRAR the executable into the following:

Flash.bat
...@ECHO OFF
...CLS
...safuwin.exe CO2_816.ROM /p /b /n /r /k
...@ECHO ON
Safuwin.exe
CO2_816.ROM http://www.mediafire.com/download/0x7nl1...O2_816.ROM


All I need now is a modded ROM. Thanks in advance!!!!!

In an effort to move forward..... I just tried using "AMI_Mod_Tool_1.54_and_Award_Mod_Tool_1.37.rar" and it is saying the BIOS is not AMI, however when I boot into the bios it says America Megatrends Inc.

Am I missing something here? Please help! Thanks!

That BIOS is a EFI BIOS and already has HPQOEMSLIC-CPC 2.1 in it.
You just need to install the matching HP Certificate and HP OEM Key to activate Win 7.
I'd just run the latest Loader by Daz, it will install those for you.
