Hi everyone,
I have an HP 8510w mobile workstation and inspired by the VAIO and ThinkPad quad core Q9000 mod, i've decided to try it on this system:
https://vaiolibrary.com/VGN-AW_Quad_Core_Mod
Suprisingly, after doing the pinmod as in the VAIO and ThinkPad tutorials, it actually worked, the 8510w now posts with the Q9000 cpu, there is one problem though...
This issue is that the BIOS seems to not handle 4 cores propely, and upon trying to boot into windows with "Dual Core CPU" option enabled in the BIOS, the system instantly reboots after the windows logo. Windows only boots when only one core is enabled ( "Dual Core CPU" option disabled) but that defeats the purpose of Q9000 cpu....
This exact issue also occured on thinkpads (for example this mod was done on a X200) from my knowledge, but they were able to solve it by just flashing coreboot/libreboot, which is sadly not available for this system..
This laptop uses an
Intel PM965 chipset, i'm attaching my current bios which has the whitelist removed.
Okay, i've firgured that its missing microcodes for Quad cpus, but thing is how do we add them?
