Is it possible to mod the BIOS on my ASUS Rampage II Gene for better fan control?

This looks like the right place to ask this question...

I have this neat ASUS ROG Rampage II Gene-based desktop machine, which I've added a massive 1.6A CPU fan to. I got the fan from an old Dell machine — they have this thing they do where they have one massive fan to bring air to all components simultaneously (except the PSU). It can pull some crazy amounts of air when running at max load.

This makes it possible to reach pretty impressive overclocks, and when I use the ASUS FanExpert software, I can also set a sensible fan curve where it stay at <=10% speed until the CPU reaches 60C, then it starts revving up pretty quickly, and at 80C it'll be running at full speed.

This fix makes the computer near-silent for most regular work. Only when I play games or compress large files will it get loud. It's very nice.

Thing is, this only works in Windows, and I also have Linux and OS X on this machine. I actually mostly use these for my programming and whatnot. And here I can't control the speed of the fan via software. Not even on Windows have I found any 3rd party app that'd do what ASUS FanExpert does.

This means I have three BIOS options to rely on: Silent mode (which is frustratingly loud), Turbo mode (which is insanely loud), and Manual, where I get to set two temp vs. duty % values. This would be sufficient if I could set the duty cycle low enough, but the BIOS restricts it to 40%, which is way too loud for this crazy fan.

So now I was kind of hoping that it would be possible to modify the BIOS to allow me to remove this restriction, or maybe even to change the way Silent and Turbo modes work.

Is it?
