Actually, the link in the first post was not broken, it just has a bracket at the end: http://download1.msi.com/files/downloads...VMS120.zip

Actually both cards work on an asus SK8V main board with an Athlon FX-51 CPU or an opetron 275 CPu and with the samepower supply.

I googled the board you are attempting to use this card on just to see if maybe this was a chronic problem with that particular line of boards. All I really found from various posts is that specific card requires quite a lot of power most are suggesting at least a 550watt psu. and that the motherboards themselves seem to all most dwell on old hardware that is no longer connected and to clear the cmos jumper when switching out video cards.

I also looked up the board on the msi site and the latest bios which is the same you provided show in the notes that they recently fixed a cmos problem,
my guess is it still is not fixed. so the posts i read on other sites are most likely not far off on this issue. clear the cmos with and with out the card installed
remove the cmos battery, any and all combinations, etc. we will get to the bottom of this cause sloppy bios code just really annoys me. people spend alot of money
to build their dream systems only to find out someone dropped the ball in the bios of the board. so then the board barely meets requirement as advertised.

I clear the CMOS and did everything without no lock, that's why I asked here if somebody could give a look at it and see if he can find what is the problem.

MSI told me to change the board because it's pretty old and they don't have interest in updating the BIOS.

Ok well I am stumped at this point, I will give theWiz a PM and see what he can dig up on this issue!

Hey,

As f3bandit has said I did have a busy week, but I'm going to make sure I try to answer your request as best as I can. MSI is only half right, your board is rather old but we might be able to pull something off. My guess after looking everything over is that your ACPITBL is too old in the BIOS and cannot detect/power a newer video card. Lets try to get a list of same chipset motherboards and see if we can either swap components or do a crossflash. also, it would be helpful knowing if you had a spare chip or not.

Thanks,
TheWiz

I have a blank chip because the system crashed when I tried to do the first bios upgrade and so I bought a new one with the bios written on it.
The chipset you mean is the VIA k8t800 pro? because both cards works perfectly on a bourd with a k8t800 like Asus SK8V.

Bye and thanks

I would program that blank chip then and try that BIOS, you have nothing to lose
