MSI MegaPc 865Pro - Barebone - Cedar Mill and P4 dual core support
#1
Hi everybody, I just found this forum and registered to ask for a modded bios to support new cpus for an MSI MegaPc 865pro barebone that I actually use as an HTPC.
Actually the cpu support is until Pentium 4 660 (18x) and I wish to add at least newer Cedar Mill series (65nm) or new Pentium D 8xx/9xx.
The best could be add support for new Core 2 duo processors, too.. the chipset is based on the Intel 865G+ICH5, all the necessary things can be archieved here MSI MegaPc 865Pro

Thanks in advance!

The bios file is attached to the message and the info and bios official download page in here ASRock 775I65G info and download page

Thanks again

Is it possible you could provide a sample board that is an AWARD bios. Also, do you have any methods of recovery in case something goes awry.

There's another MSI board based on the same chipset i865g+ich5, here for further details -> MSI

I also included the latest bios for that board 7101v51 in the attachment, it's an AWARD bios and support cpus until Pentium D 8xx/9xx.

Can you help me to extend cpu support with the new microcode insert? Do you need something else?

Best regards, Fl@sh

Ill check it out later 2night. I just need to know what methods of recovery you have Ex. Spare bios Chip. There are things I can try to add that should work fine, but sometimes adding power states from a different motherboard doesn't always go as planned. The same chipset helps though.

I remeber the bios chip is soldered on board.... there's a chance to test it without a real programming? I.e. for Nvidia cards I remember there's a little program to test a new rom without flash...
Least could you add also the SLIC 2.1 support for MSI inside bios? Wink
Fye I added a useful rpgram to decode amibioses.. maybe you already got it!

Have a good work my friend! Big Grin

Thanks man!
TheWiz

Sure! With this tool you can explode the whole "AMI" rom in many single litte modules to modify and reassemble them once done.
Every module is identified and printed on screen with the absolute lower/upper position in memory and routine lenght in bytes.
There are three version of the program, one for a plain DOS bootup, one for Windows (in a dosbox) and another for Linux x86.
The syntax is "AMIDECOW.EXE AMIBIOS.ROM" under Windows dosbox.
I'm not an expert in bioses but in these few hours I'm learning a lot about it, unfortunately not enough to resolve my problem!
..I'm not TheWiz! Only you have the power, so happy working ;-)

With MMTOOL my rom wasn't recognized. Confused
The MSI MegaPC 865Pro has additional routines inside bios for the "Instant On" feature, maybe this can help.
