Mini EPC GE3+ slic2.1 request
#11
Yes, this is a netbook type of PC but no idea whom the board is from, it's laptop-like based but seems generic, no writing anywhere on it.

Because it's so Generic, and company is a small one that had cheap PC's at the time and I have no recovery procedures, I doubt they might even exist, nor how to check for them.

I have 11 of these PC's so I can maybe sacrifice one to try, I realize if it bricks I am screwed up.

If you already made a BIOS to try, I guess I can try it, after your friend confirms with you, please post it.

Ok I'll post it as quick as I get it !

For Bios Recovery procedure I wrote
http://www.fic.com.tw/support/motherboar...aspx#bios7
But I don't know is for your laptop, so there are some !
This is mine file :

http://rghost.net/52101788
** BIOSCOD1.ROM reintegrated successfully
** SLIC module inserted successfully
SLIC written as module ACPI5.ROM
ROM.SCR amended
SLIC performed successfully.

I'll confirm when I get my friend's file too.

The instructions on that site for flash and recovery appears to be for AMI - not Phoenix BIOS.

I tried to flash your file but got an error, I do not know why because I made a simple boot USB stick that I used in the past with HP USB Boot Tool

Error reads as follows, there is nothing HIMEM loaded or any TSR at all:

Phoenix Phlsh16 Error

Cannot flash if Memory Managers (e.g. HIMEM) present

Also tried from Winflash 1.7.16.0 and got an error as well

If You are not afraid to brick it I can help to force writing bios, but I haven't any responsability, for your DOS USB Stick can use a 1 or 2 GB stick and prepare it by
http://rapidgator.net/file/aed7999f2b7fe...W.rar.html
Use fat16 and DOS internal, It will be DOS autoboot USB Stick simply, try this.
A guide to force flashing on Phoenix Bios :
http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-HO...OS-PHOENIX
and this for recovery :
http://www.bios-mods.com/bios-recovery/p...-recovery/

Are You shure that the BIOS FILE posted from FIC is for your laptop ???? as second shots say that "PART NUMBER NOT MATCH" ?!?!? as
this bios not for your pc !
Have You flashed this original bios before ? have tried to flash it ? are You shure it's for your laptop ?
Can You make a bios backup using this tool ?

I will not be able to try again until Monday to do another flash to BIOS because I am leaving for the weekend, but I can collect information off of the PC remotely as need within a Windows environment, such as the backup you requested

I have no way to know for sure if the BIOS I got is correct but it's on their official website with the correct name of the PC and the correct picture, so surely it must be correct.

Here is the backup BIOS File using the tool you provided:

Some minor progress, using the win98 boot option, or using the one I had with /x to ignore the Himem error, I get further, I now get stuck at the "Backing system BIOS ROM" step which is the third step. It just sits there indefinitely with no activity, very strange.

I am checking your bios backup and original You posted, so they seem to inner.
The backup has INTEL CRESTLNE chipset (GPX Integrated GMA X3100 graphics core)

GL960 Crestline 82960GL (GMCH) ICH8-M Celeron M, Pentium Dual-Core 533 MHz
GM965 Crestline 82965GM (GMCH) ICH8-M Core 2 Duo 533/667/800 MHz
PM965 Crestline 82965PM (MCH) ICH8-M Core 2 Duo 533/667/800 MHz

The original file has INTEL CALISOTGA chipset (GPX Integrated GMA 950 graphics core )

940GML Calistoga 82940GML (GMCH) ICH7-M Cel.M, CS, Pent.DC 533
943GML Calistoga 82943GML (GMCH) ICH7-M Cel.M, CS, Pent.DC2 533
945GMS Calistoga 82945GMS (GMCH) ICH7-M C2D, Pent.DC, CS, Cel.M533
945GSE Calistoga 82945GSE (GMCH) ICH7-M Intel Atom 533/667 MHz
945GM/E Calistoga 82945GM/E (GMCH) ICH7-M C2D, CD, Pent.DC, CS, Cel. M 533
945PM Calistoga 82945PM (MCH) ICH7-M C2D, CD, Pent.DC, CS, Cel. M 533/667

For me are different and it's not possible to flash inner over this Eeprom it will be a brick shurely, I can try to modify the backup to insert the Slic 2.1, but it is prohibited using backup as it will give a brick.
So let me have informtion on your laptop using AIDA64 Extreme, You have make a report to read all informations about your pc.

OK I will make the report with AIDA

I did notice one thing, the website lists the webpage with GE2 at end of URL and lists one link to AHCI setup with GE2, however gives a picture of GE3 and as well a BIOS Link to GE3 and also has text info about GE3, so maybe they do have a bad link?

I tried their original to flash with no SLIC insertion and also it would have the same issue.

Let me see the Aida repdsort and I will say all about your bios !

I will try to include SLIC 2.1 in your bios backup so it's original own in this laptop and I post here quickly to try !
. . . . . . Others cannot use this file !

http://rghost.net/private/52186291/d71be...361d396a07

The last slic file you posted gives error 161 when trying to flash, [Part table signature not found in the interface. Error code: -161] will try in DOS mode if you recommend it.
