[REQUEST] Acer Aspire 5742(G,Z) BIOS Unlock

Hi,
I have a Aspire 5742G with an unlocked BIOS from a chinese site.
The Option "Display Mode" is still locked and set to "Switchable Graphics"
With "H2OEZE" i tried to change the setting to "Integrated Grahpics", but after flashing it's still locked and set to "Switchable Graphics".
I also tried to set it to "Discrete Graphics", but same problem.


Please can someone unlock that Option?

can someone unlock the "Display Mode" item in the BIOS?
It's greyed out.

This is a pre-modded BIOS, so it's unlocked and UEFI modded.

Hello everyone and good morning. This is literally my first post on a BIOS modification forum so I'm basically a layman at the moment.  

Let's get to the point, I have an Acer Aspire 5742 notebook (No G or Z ending, just Aspire 5742). Well, I've always been curious and would like to know if there is any way to unlock the BIOS advanced options tab for this notebook and any other that is hidden.

I know it's an old notebook, I've been doing research here on the forum and found a lot of information about BIOS Mod for Acer Aspire 5742G and Z, which have Nvidia VGA. But for 5742 only (Model without NVidia VGA, only video integrated into the CPU) found some vague reviews and no real dedicated BIOS Mod for it. (I also have no idea if they are compatible with 5742 without G)

Most of the conversations about this model date back to 2011/2012 so I don't know if anyone is still able to help me in 2025. So if anyone can provide me with a BIOS Mod to unlock the advanced tab and any other hidden ones I would be very grateful. 

I don't have a defined goal in unlocking this BIOS, it's just curiosity and madness on a holiday morning.

Board BIOS version: V1.04
Model: Acer Aspire 5742
Motherboard: PEW71 with HDMI

I know there are more updated bios available like 1.28, 1.29, 1.30 but they are unavailable on the Acer website 404 not found.

haha was problems with ram easy isntal new system but cant update bios becouse show me the battery its lower then 20% ofc its on cable, battery its broken alredy

I am using the modified V1.30 version from this site on my Acer Aspire 5742G

It works really well, UEFI boot and Windows 11 24H2, installed with Rufus.
However, what I'm missing in this BIOS version is the ability to adjust the voltage for the RAM, or to have the voltage regulated automatically so that PC3 and/or PC3L SODIMM can run.
Currently, only PC3 runs at 1.5V, but PC3L does not, because the setting for it is fixed at 1.5V.
Can someone take a look at this and see if there is a way to manage this?

It's solved.
I installed an i7-840qm today, and it manages the RAM differently as the i3-370m, so both PC3 and PC3L variants work.

hi can anybody POST the fully unlocked/modded Acer 5742G v1.30 bios (from Rajkosto) here please i need it for an old laptop
i want to look how to tweak the fans because the high temps... and i want top look for cpu upgrade so microcode needs to be in and set video handling in bios. those sort of things. an other good modded V1.30 is also very welcome
