[REQUEST] Acer Aspire E5-553(G) BIOS Unlock
Hi, I have an Aspire E5-553G and my BIOS version is: 1.31.

I have Windows 10 Pro, I enbaled Hyper-V and if I check I have everything supported, just I need to activate it from the BIOS, and I I'm didn't founding it...

I never used a BIOS Mod and I don't know how to install it or something else.

The BIOS download link is: https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles...SC=EMEA_17

Hello there! I have a little problem. I had to downgrade from BIOS 1.31 to 1.19 because performance was being a problem. Sadly, I have two problems with this:
1.- I cant sleep the laptop anymore, only works with 1.31, I've tried the Windows Update thingy, nothing.
2.- Now the TPM 2.0 thing is there in device manager with an error code 10, I disabled TPM first before downgrading, but no avail, it's still there...

Anyone can help me with that?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Well I had to return to BIOS 1.31... one of two, if I could recover sleep functions in v1.19 would be good, or if someone could tell me how I can find the correct values for either that or to fix the CPU throttling and / or speed options that causes me slowdowns (temps are good and the laptop is clean) I would be really thankful.

Anyone could explain to me how to use that BIOS table mcclarke posted a while ago to find teh values in the h2ouve dumps? I've tried figuring myself but I'm kinda stupid XD

Hello,
I need to open my laptop to allow VM. I read through all the posts and tried couple of fixes but I failed.
I have Acer Aspire E-15 E5-553G-F55F with AMD FX 7th generation.
16GB RAM.
Windows 10 HOME 64Bit.
BIOS version 1.31

I tried the following fix:

[031] "Setup"
      GUID: A04A27F4-DF00-4D42-B552-39511302113D
      Attributes: 0x7
      DataSize: 0x279
      Data:
            00000000: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
            00000010: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
            ...
000000E0: 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 01 00 00 00

I changed:
        000000E0: 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 01 00 00 00
                            - to -
        000000E0: 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 01 00 01 00

When this one didn’t work I also altered the following line in addition:

00000140: 00 00 01 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02
-to-
00000140: 00 00 01 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00 02
The result was that my computer froze just after startup. So I had to revert the changes using the BIOS.

Any idea how to allow VM on my system I really struggle?

Attached is my Var.txt file

SVM support : 0xEE

SMM Code Lock : 0x14D

SVM stands for secure virtual machine.
It is useful if you have an AMD processor capable of virtualization.

SMM
System Managementmode (SMM) is a relatively obscure mode on Intel processors
used for low-level hardware control

So from v.1.13 to v.1.31 it was there, then if it will not works for you, then it's better to buy an SPI PGM (Ch341a) with Pomona Clip and
modify the bios to unlock all (AMD CPU only) ...

About the BIOS table McClarke , it is the EFI IFR txt extracted from the SetupUtility Module (UEFI Tool CodeRush tool can make this + Universal IFR Extrcator
Donvan6k tool for IFR), then you have to find the NVRAM Variables to modify , so you need to know what to looking for Wink

This is the GUID to find to modiify the Variables above (vars.txt is a list / table) :

[031] "Setup"
GUID: A04A27F4-DF00-4D42-B552-39511302113D

These are the Variables 0xEE and 0x14D

------------- 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 0A 0B 0C 0D 0E 0F
000000E0: 00 00 00 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 01 00 00 00
...
------------- 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 0A 0B 0C 0D 0E 0F
00000140: 00 00 01 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 02

You read the variables and write the variables by H2OUVE tool.

Sorry I am not sure I completely understand. How do I update all the variables that are on the top of your post?  (0x34979 Form: Disabled etc.).
I was able to update the [031] "setup" parameters  in the var file but that didn't help and I still can't use my VM

Ok friend, it's so (thanks to Maxinator500 for the correction) :

0x349E4 One Of: SVM support, VarStoreInfo (VarOffset/VarName): 0xEE, VarStore: 0x1234, QuestionId: 0x55, Size: 1, Min: 0x0, Max 0x1, Step: 0x0 {05 91 A9 00 AA 00 55 00 34 12 EE 00 00 10 00 01 00}

The Variable "SVM support" 0xEE

0x34A05 One Of: SMM Code Lock, VarStoreInfo (VarOffset/VarName): 0x14D, VarStore: 0x1234, QuestionId: 0x56, Size: 1, Min: 0x0, Max 0x1, Step: 0x0 {05 91 AB 00 AC 00 56 00 34 12 4D 01 00 10 00 01 00}

The Variable "SMM Code Lock" = 0x14D

We can get the variable's offsets form the IFR txt file , just looking for the names and then getting the VarStore field ...

I hope this cleared all doubts.
Regards

P.S. read the Maxinator500 explaination ... (thanks Max)

You are wrong. Delete string package 0x4 and see the difference.
