Here's mine for a E5-553: vars.txt
So one of the bytes gets updated, then apply to running system?
Is it possible to enable the advanced tab in the bios this way too?

Ok, here's the file with AMD-V enabled and SMM Code Lock disabled: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4NHIBM...JoSU0/view

You need to put the vars_mod.txt file in the folder with the H2OUVE.exe file and execute the following command in an administrative command prompt in that folder: H2OUVE.exe -sv vars_mod.txt
H2OUVE will update the NVRAM area of the BIOS and after a reboot the new settings should be active.

Unfortunately there's no setting in the BIOS that allows unlocking of the advanced tab.
However, with disabled SMM Code Lock it might be possible to flash a modded BIOS using flashrom on Linux (there's no suitable Windows flasher for AMD Insyde systems), but I don't have enough knowledge regarding this matter.

Hello. I have this laptop model but difference series Acer e5 553g F79R. Here mya vars.txt. And i find the different between kking1276 : vars.txt. with check of https://www.diffchecker.com/. So it is possible to use vars_mod.txt file from kking1276 : vars.txt. Thank you

I have Acer E5-553G-T9VU . i need to unlock bios menu to enable virtualization.

 i tried bootable
EFI shell from couple of posts and youtube video
and did this command

setup_var 0x217 0x01

but it didnt worked
and now am afraid to do anymore test as it will brick my motherboard.
please help with insydeh20 bios

i followed the thread and downloaded the .rar file 
extracted it
and Ran CMD and admin
and 
executed
sample.bat and H2OUVE.exe
but not vars.txt is created

here is what i got in CMD

You need to execute the following in the CMD: H2OUVE.exe -gv vars.txt
That will create the vars.txt file.
