Hey all, I've got an acer aspire Acer VN7-593G and I'm trying to unlock the advanced bios. I've been looking through this form for a while now and tried to complete the steps that vodek posted, https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...ock?page=3 . I managed to find the i-page unlike the other guy on this thread with the same computer, however when I tried to edit the variable (0x8F) in the EFI Shell, the variable default was not 0x0 it was set at 0x16, there was also an error saying the change would not go through. I tried to get a bios dump but am running into problems with that aswell, any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I would also like to unlock my bios for those reasons:
* Advanced Tab to play with Virtualization Options
* NVME SSD Support (dual boot currently not possible in combination with secure boot, needed by windows 11 Sad )

I'm on Acer VN7 592G with BIOS version v1.12.

I already tried to dump the BIOS according to the VN7 592G Guide but failed to find the relevant section in the IFR export.

Any help appreciated Smile

Thanks!

To unlock this Bios it needs to use H2OUVE Tool , then edit the vars.txt and rewrite the NVRAM variables to unlock the i-page 0x258 set 0x01 ...
Then into the Advanced Bios Menu Tab , we can unlock all the variables to reflash the Bios to adding it the NVME Module :

i-Page : 0x258

BIOS SPI Lock : 0x259

RTC Lock : 0x339

BIOS Lock : 0x4B3

It can be unlocked by H2OUVE modifying the variables all or only i-Page , after shown Advanced is possible to unlock the others within Bios.

Editing vars.txt is easy look here what to change and how to :

Unpack the H2OUVE Tool and run the Dump.bat into the folder to get the vars.txt file, then edit it

After edit then save as varsmod.txt and write back the variables using the Write.bat command into H2OUVE Tool folder, reboot the laptop and go into bios to check Advanced Tab.
Then it's possible to unlock all rest.
