[REQUEST] Asrock G31M-VS2 Vcore Unlock

Hello everyone,

Just bought this motherboard for a "portable" gaming system, my CPU is an Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 (CPU-Z reports stepping 6 and revision B2). I can push it up to an FSB of around 335MHz, anything above will hang the system and result in a BSOD, forced reboot, etc. The RAM is Qimonda 2GB DDR2 800MHz 6-6-6 rated at 1.8V.

The voltage adjustments available for this board are NB, VTT and memory, all done through ASRock OC Tuner.

If I had control over VCore I could definitely push past 350MHz FSB as I have seen plenty of other E6400 getting past the 3GHz barrier.

PS.: This is one of the smallest mATX motherboards there is, only 5.6cm longer than an ITX MB and less than half the price! There is a good chance that this would fit a Lian-Li PCQ11 so keep it in mind if you want portability on a budget.

If a BIOS unlock is not possible, can I physically modify the motherboard somehow?

Hello, I bought this Asrock G31M-VS2 and the bios is updated to Version 1.20 (horrible motherboard btw) i'm just thinking if there's anyway to unlock Vcore setting in bios or add it if possible, my CPU is Dual core E5700 3.0GHZ and i can't even overclock it to 3.1GHZ and i think it's all because of the Vcore which is only 1.25v

Hello, i have a spare ASRock G31M-VS2 with an intel dual core, and all is ok. Now i wanted to install an Intel Quad Q9400. but unfortunately i have a lot of Bluescreen of death, after googling i found out that the problem is the vcore that is too low for this motherboard (even if is listened as supported by vendor). I looked for you with AMIBCP but unfortunately i can't find any hidden voltage controls to unlock. There is a big change that the motherboard physically just does not have the required hardware to change the vcore via software or bios and just uses the CPU vid pins to determine the voltage. You can do a 775 VID mod (just google it, has been well documented) or you have to do a hardware mod to the voltage controller with a feedback mod if you have the skills for it.

Hmm, i see that the VID mod information is mostly gone indeed. I recommend you to just buy a better board if you aren't familiar with hardmodding. The 775 stuff is really cheap these days with quality boards going second hand for less that €30. But that is maybe not the answer you want to read.

I have no problem to make hardware stuff, so if you have some advice i can do it without problem. Also i have seen that BSEL mod seems to ba a FSB mod, my problem is that the vcore that the matherboard supply on quad core CPU is too low (known issue on that kind of asrock board).
