[REQUEST] HP Compaq nx6120 WiFi Whitelist removal
#1
If someone could please remove the whitelist blocking other wifi cards working in the laptop, that would be great.

Information
HP Compaq nx6120:
BIOS:

68DTD F.14

link: win: sp33793.exe https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp33501-3...p33793.exe

Originally came with an Intel 2200BG adapter, other adapters listed in the service manual are the Intel 2915ABG and Broadcom Max Performance 54a/b/g apparently work with this model.

If anyone needs more information than this, then please let me know.

Thanks bro I appreciate it, the flash worked, I then checked out the bios and to my surprise a bunch of other options were added. Couple days ago I ordered the cheap Atheros AR9220 card to replace the 2200BG, should be arriving in a couple of days.  Rolleyes

Did a bit more research and found that HP bios update catalog for their older models on their site is a bit whack and apparently newer bios versions were released further than F.14 68DTD from 2006, in existence the latest one is F.16 68DTD but is only listed on the nc6140 support site. Now obviously they are all within the same branch of 68DTD rom family so it would make sense for it to work on the nx6120. Would it be alright for you to whitelist F.16 68DTD as well just to keep the bios update to date? If you could do it in your spare time that would be great!

I'll drop the "newer" one here, it's a rom not hpqflash which is a bit of a pain.

Didn't know that. I have the same 68DTD laptop bought for software experiments (you noticed more setup options already).

I could try installing F.16. If it works, I'll make a modded version. This time more polished one.
I mean "Computer Setup" title string won't be touched. This was a way to correct the checksum, which is no longer needed. I found how to disable bios integrity verif, but forgot to revert "Computer Setup".

UPD:
Here's F16 mod. Have fun.

Thank you, didn't even notice the Computer Setup mischaracter until you said so, it seems that you have fixed it. Applied the F.16 bios and it worked, the wifi module arrived (AR9220) but unfortunately it didn't get past the post screen as it just stays there indefinitely. Could be possibly rejecting somehow else though i'm not sure.

Apart from that issue, everything else worked perfectly, later on for fun I might try out putting in a Pentium M 780 and see if it works as it doesn't say in the service manual.

Thanks for your time and work in putting this together.
