[REQUEST] Lenovo Flex 10 BIOS Unlock
#11
hello everyone,

i finally managed to make a dump of the bios.
Directly with a clip and nano USB Bios Programmer.
The file is here after it is a UEFI Insyde H2O Bios locked in 32bit.

Hope it will help to find a solution.

Tom

Warning for everybody running Win 7 on this netbook!

After upgrading to "93cn54ww" from Lenovo site I can't boot into Win 7 x64 SP1

There is a BSOD 0x000000A5 "The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant"

I tried all possible BIOS options - Legacy mode, turn off AHCI, etc...

Forgot to write down the old bios revision number (but I'm sure old bios was 32 bit)

Win 7 install DVD won't boot either, same BSOD. In despair I installed Win 8.1 x64, and it works.

Then I tried to flash back 93cn19ww, but instead of insyde bios update there is small blue error message "Bios update failed"

Then I tried to flash "93cn52ww" from previous page, and it succeeded, but Win 7 install DVD does not boot (same BSOD), Win 8 works fine.

Now I'm hunting for older bios versions, trying to downgrade back to 93cn50ww, 93cn28ww, 93cn27ww.

It's obvious 64 bit bios can't be downgraded to 32 bit for some reason.

No luck finding them so far....

*update

I tried to downgrade 93cn52ww>93cn19ww by copying Win01BTIL52_37_19.fd in place of Win01BTIL92.fd, and run InsydeFlashx64.exe, but it fails upon reboot into Insyde flashing program with Firmware update failed!!!

It seems that InsydeFlash.exe and InsydeFlashx64.exe just put flash image into some kind of BIOS flash partition that is executed upon reboot. Then bios flash utility makes the actual flash procedure.

Hi friend,
It's UEFI Bios Flash Procedure :

1. Bios get a first check by InsydeFlash tool
2. Saved into UEFI Partition for Reboot and Flash
3. Reboot and check RSA Signature if confirmed proceed to . . .
4. Flashing Process there is a secondary check with Bios into Eeprom
5. Confirmed and accepted

So It's not moddable and flashable directly by InsydeFlash.exe, only Original Signed !
In your case You can try to modify into Platform.ini file extracting Bios .exe file into
his folder and looking for this :

[Bios_Version_Check]
Flag=2
CheckByBios=0
CheckByBiosErrorMessage="This BIOS file is not allow to flash. The flash process will be terminated."
;This flag is the switch of checking BIOS version.
;Flag                               (dwsDWS)
;                  default : 2.
;                        0 : Don't check rom file version.
;                        1 : Check BIOS version.
;                            When rom file version is older then BIOS, it will display
;                              a warning message and close application.
;                        2 : Depend on BIOS report.
;CheckByBios                        (dwsDWS)
;                  default : 0.
;                        0 : Normal process.
;                        1 : It will pass version by IHISI to BIOS and check by BIOS.
;                            When BIOS return not allow to flash, it will be terminated the process.
;                            When BIOS allow to flash, it will go ahead and do it's normal process.
;                            When this flag is enable but BIOS not support, it will skip version check and assume allow to flash.
;CheckByBiosErrorMessage            (dwsDWS)
;                  default : "This BIOS file is not allow to flash. The flash process will be terminated."
;                   String : User defined error message when BIOS is not allow to flash this version image.

Change Flag=2 to 0 save and ty again !

I already did that, otherwise utility would not even start the procedure.

the screen from bios after InsydeFlash makes restart:

after that, bios settings are reset to defaults (type of boot: UEFI, default settings for Win8)

I'm not running UEFI, but normal system, with this settings:

I'm not sure if that is a good idea, it could brick the machine ? Dodgy

Hi guys, I need some help with Flex 10

After trying to flash different versions with FPT, flex 10 is not booting

I need a flex 10 hex file for use with programmer, please upload if somebody have.

Bios from lenovo is 10 105 312 bytes and flash size is 8 388 608 bytes?! Is there a way to extract .hex file from .fd file?

EDIT: I managed to find a hex file for 64bit bios and flash it with ch430 programmer, but on this one still can't install Win7.

Does anybody have a dump of old 32-bit bios?

I got it, need to edit .fd by hex editor and remove everything before (and including) "$_IFLASH_BIOSIMG..€...€." on 1C1E0h at beginning of file and everyting after and including " _IFLASH_INI_IMG" at 81C1E0h at end of file so file has same size as flash (800000h)

So I can get back the 32-bit bios now.

Still looking for version 93cn50ww (last 64 bit bios that runs Win7) if somebody has...

I'm triying to put the 93cn27ww on a laptop to replace the 32 bit 93cn19ww bios so i can switch from UEFI only to legacy support.
Any hint? Also I can't seem to find 93cn27ww
I have 2x Lenovo Flex 10 one with 93cn27ww and one with 93cn19ww
Any guideline is appreciated here too Smile
