It's not so easy like You said

1. get Sources
2. Compile to get flashable file
3. use Flashrom tool with a right SPI PGM (http://flashrom.org/Technology#Communica...s_protocol)
4. pray to get working laptop

I can say that project is good and smart beautifull for Developers !
But for normal user (and I helped a lot of to use SPI PGM) is very difficult.
