[REQUEST] Lenovo IdeaPad U330, U430 & U530 (7CCNxxWW) Whitelist Removal
#21
This BIOS has a "BIOS Back Flash" option which can be enabled/disabled (default is disabled). The description reads "Allow BIOS to be back leveled to a previous version." Does that help?

So far I see no way in BIOS to utilize this "BIOS Back Flash" feature.

I will try the test posted above with the option enabled, just to see what happens...

FYI: I tried the TESTBACK.exe with the BackFlash option enabled and same result as SpidrJeru had. I guess this means we know how to read the BIOS image but not write back a patched version.

I would eventually like to eliminate locked MSR (PmPatch) and remove (or change) the WiFi whitelist.

I 'd like to replace the 7260 N Wifi card with an Atheros AR5BHB116 card.

-My laptop: Lenovo Ideapad U430p (Model name: 20269)

-Bios type: LENOVO 7CCN26WW, 06.09.2013

- Bios download link: BIOS updates not yet published by Lenovo. I find BIOS update for IdeaPad U330, but I'm not sure that BIOS from u330 compatible with u430p. Does anyone know how to check compatibility?

- Intel 7260N card (original): PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B2&SUBSYS_42628086&REV_73\0C8BFDFFFFB710C900

I get BIOS backup by TESTBACK.exe, as described in this topic: http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-RE...s-7CCN26WW

Unfortunately, flashing not finished due error:
Error 280: Failed to disable write protection for the BIOS space!

This error show twice - once after start flashing and second after I press enter after first error.

I try to enable or disable "Backflash bios" function, but flashing not sensitive to this changes

Maybe ... this mod can be flashed with HW programmer only.

Can be done by force flashing by recovery
Need a full BIOS backup to mod and reflash tought
another option is external EEPROM programmer

Edit:

Also, have you guys tried prr2 utility to bypass write protection in BIOS region?
