[REQUEST] Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E430 & E530 (H0ETxxWW) Whitelist Removal
(08-27-2015, 04:15 AM)BDMaster Wrote: Can I ask in which way You flashed the Bios Mod .exe ?
There are two ways :

Prerogative is to rename Bios Mod unpacked folder as modified and then copy It into root place
HD C: main HD on your laptop, so You'll look something like C:\modified, then . . .

1. open a Command Prompt (CLI Windows C:\) with Administrator rights and run FLASH.BAT
2. open a Command Prompt (CLI Windows C:\) with Administrator rights and execute these commands . . .

cd \
cd modified
WINUPTP.exe /s

Let me know
Regards

Or execute as Administrator this one :

We can try yet this one follow instructions :

Greetings from Italy Wink

Thank you for your help and patience!

I unpacked it to a folder in C:\ (though not under the root), kept its long name. Then I ran cmd.exe as admin, cd to that folder and ran FLASH.BAT. I saw that the only thing FLASH.BAT does is to call "WINUPTP.exe /s" so the two methods should be equivalent. WINUPTP.exe did run as intended (at least from my understanding) as on reboot, the machine entered a dos-like interface and said flashing bios to ec ..., it completed without any error messages, saying the machine will reboot in 5 sec. After this reboot, I shutdown the machine, replaced the wifi card, booted again and received the same error that an unauthorized card needs to be removed. So, that was the whole process.

I don't have the replacement wifi card at hand at the moment. I'll try again this evening with renaming the unpacked folder and putting it right under c:\. Though I suspect it's not the cause, as WINUPTP.exe seemed to do its job.

Greetings from a Maldini fan in UK Smile

Thank you. That's perhaps a step too far for me. I'd like to try prr and fpt in dos. I've got fpt, do you happen to have prr/prr2 at hand?

Still doesn't work because of the following error.

"Error 28: Protected Range Registers are currently set by BIOS, preventing flash access.
Please contact the target system BIOS vendor for an option to disable Protected Range Registers."

Apparently prr doesn't solve this. I saw in another post of yours that for certain Acer machines, waking up from sleep mode temporarily render the bios flashable. Do you reckon this could work in my case?

Waking up from sleep brought another error instead:

Error 103: There are no supported SPI flash devices installed. Please check connectivity and orientation of SPI flash device.

FPT failed to write but was able to read. This time it can't even read the bios. HW programmer seems the only way but it's out of the question for me. I gave up, for now. Thank you for your help along the way!
