[REQUEST] Lenovo Thinkpad X230 Tablet (GCETxxWW) Whitelist Removal
I want to add more info related to Bluetooth enabling after applying whitelist BIOS on different card.

Recently I replaced my Intel AC7260 with Broadcom BCM94360HMB (taken from ASUS X99 Deluxe WiFi Go module). This card is the only 3x3:3 802.11ac (1300Mbps) + BT 4.0 Half Size Mini PCI-E I know (Lenovo X230 Tablet can only take half size mini PCI-E on WLAN slot). The WiFi works ok, but no Bluetooth was shown on the Device Manager. I tried #51 pin kapton tape trick twice, but it doesn't work with this card and pressing Fn+F5 only give WLAN and WWAN switches, no Bluetooth.

To troubleshoot the problem, I put the old Lenovo proprietary Bluetooth adapter together with BCM94360HMB card and try the Fn+F5 again, now both Bluetooths shown on Device Manager. My suspicion is the Lenovo X230 Tablet doesn't even know if BCM94360HMB has Bluetooth on it and decide not to switch the Bluetooth on. I took a look at the board contact and checked the voltage status while both card was plugged in. The #51 pin voltage was +3.3V when Bluetooth is on and 0V when it's off. I think it's the opposite with Intel AC7260, I don't really remember.

In attempt to solve the problem, I soldered a short 30AWG wire from pin #51 to pin #48 (the closest pin with always on +3.3V) to enable the Bluetooth all the time. The trick works like a charm Smile

Hello all,

It seems that this guy (http://www.zmatt.net/unlocking-my-lenovo-laptop-part-3/) successfully flashed a modified Embedded Controller firmware in his X230T. Could his method be replicated to software flash a non-whitelist BIOS without relying on hardware programmer?

Hello Da Vinci Code,
first many thanks for helping. I will do my best in researching.
As i see this is for flashing out of Windows right?
My x230t runs currently with Linux so i can't run the WINUPTP.EXE file. I will install Windows 7 on a second hdd so i will try this path later on.
Can i simply change the content of the GCETA4WW folder in the Update ISO with the files of your Mod? So i can boot from USB and try. Will this work to? Or is Windows provided?
Best regards

As i see this is G2ETA2WW folder. That tell me this is a 2.62 BIOS for the X230 and X230i models. Do you think that a downgrade from 2.64 to 2.62 will work on X230t (Tablet) Model?
I try previously simply to run the stock iso flasher for x230 but it abort with an error that it can not find a file for this model.

I think WINUPTP.EXE file works at Win shell. This application can bypass bios rewrite protection and flash mod without programmer.
However, it need be patched to allow flash modded bios images.I need know about error messages to disable it.
Hmmm..my modded version 2.62, right? Can you provide me link to 2.64 ver?

I think the ISO installer is very similar to the Windows one. It start from a DOS or EFI boot and use the same files. If you provide me the mod i will try both the Windows and ISO installer. So i will now install Windows 7 to my old drive Wink

Links to 2.64
Windows Flasher: https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc...uj23us.exe
ISO image: https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc...uj23us.iso

As far as i know it is only for x230 and x230i as tablet version! That's i need. There should be a difference between the x230 and x230i non-tablet versions! Lenovo provides here two separate files.

Are you sure about 2.64 ver?Installation window tells me that is 2.63 version!
