[REQUEST] MSI B85-G43 Gaming Unlock Possible OC
#1
Hello,

i've a computer running msi B85-G43 Gaming and a haswell i5 4670 non k, so i've already put the multiplier to turbo max and ativated oc genie,
but it isnt enough.
If someone could help me to mod my bios so i could increase the multiplier past turbo values or increase bclk.

I search everywhere and i only found about the b85-g43 variant...
I started to watch tutorials to learn how to mod but everyone insisted that it was better to make request.

Im using the lattest bios+me
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/b85-g43-gaming

Thanks for your fhelp, there is my 1st unlock here, you do a great job by giving us freedom!

You said >> I only found about the b85-g43 variant, this is your model so that info you found should apply. In general B85 you can't usually overclock, and you can't set CPU multi above Intel spec so you're at max on that already.

Can you see "Overclocking" section in BIOS? Please zip images of BIOS (F12 to USB is screenshot probably), show me all main sections you can see, no need to go into submenus deep, just the main areas I want to see. If you can see "Overclocking" section scroll up/down in there and take a few images so I can see all settings/submenus you can see.

You're welcome - No, it's not necessary to have, just asked in case recovery is needed. Please add one image of your BIOS "Main" page, I guess inside "Settings" section, go to Main and then show me bottom of that page, need to see if "Access Level" is shown and if so what it's set as User or Admin etc.

As a time served computer engineer i can tell you categorically that the only way you can overclock your cpu is via the ringbus and the base clock.

You cannot overclock the cpu multiplier past its design spec.

Your options are as follows, faster ddr3 ram overclocked as much as possible, a cpu upgrade which would not  benefit you  much or a better gpu.
Failing that a complete upgrade.
I found the 4th gen to be a poor upgrade over  the previous generations.

Currently running a 2500k at 5GHz in my desktop in work and a ryzen 5 2600 on my gaming rig and an i5 4460 on my home server.

The sandybridge i5 2500k absolutely destroys the 4460/45xx series of i5;s/.

Intel have not been great at improving frequencies or clock speeds since sandybridge was released.

worth checking out intels cpu passmark scores fro every generation of i5 /i7 and youl realise that even though they released the 3rd/4th/5th/6th/7th ger gen i5s the performance increase was negligible and meant i hung on to my 2500k until January this year when i built my ryzen system which was the real upgrade.

whats your gpu and what do you use the pc for.. il assume gaming.

Correctly mentioned above, you can't clock your CPU multi past Intel spec

Thanks for the images, but looks like there is no "Main" shown in your BIOS, thus we can't see the current access level, so I will need to make you two BIOS one with User and one with Super/Admin as the Access level until we figure out through that which yours is set to.

What is inside the "Board Explorer" section, from bottom right corner of main page?

OK, I will make your a few initial test BIOS tonight, so we can figure out which method reveals setting in your BIOS. Then once I know, I will reveal all the hidden ones.

"Board Explorer" is just some images of the board saying what everything does, eg the ram slot.
