[REQUEST] Sager NP8875E / CLEVO PD70SNE-G / TUXEDO GEMINI GEN 2
#1
Hi there!

I bought my laptop from Sager, and it's the totally awesome NP8875E. It's a rebranded Clevo PD70SNE-G, and this model number is still etched on the chassis! It's also identical to the Tuxedo Gemini Gen 2.

Anyways, I am running into what I suspect is a bug in the BIOS, and so I would like to unlock the BIOS, poke at it and generally mess with it so that I get a bit more knowledge of this bug.

Short description of the bug:
In Windows, the CPU will boost up to 5.4GHz, and generally runs fine. In Linux, if you don't do anything special, there is a file /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/bios_limit
Inside this file the Linux kernel writes a value that it gets from the BIOS, and in my case it's 2400000, which is the speed to which the CPU is limited.

Since this is a mobile platform, the BIOS is locked down, and I can't see why in the world the Linux kernel would think that the CPU speed should be capped.

Unlocking this BIOS would be the first step in figuring out what is going on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Attached is a copy of the file I received from Sager to flash my bios, hopefully that helps?
Also attached is a zip file with all the screenshots of the BIOS, and a DMIDECODE text file.
One interesting option in the BIOS is the "Overclocking Feature" You can turn this on, but this does not result in another menu, but rather you can control some power features of the Laptop from a program in Windows.

Kind regards,
-Evert-

Thanks for the info, Evert. Do you remember what the original bios version was?
