Re: Locked/Stickied Thread: Foxconn H67S 2.1 Slic Mod HP
#1
First, a link to the thread in question, which i cannot post in :\
http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/archive/i...-5621.html

The post links to a 2MB attachment that shares the name of an official H67S update named A41F1020.

The official is located here (with quite few new updates since this thread was created): http://www.foxconnchannel.com/driverdown...1F1020.zip

However the official bios is a 4MB file.

I have two of these boards, so took the chance to flash the 2MB image to the chip, knowing i could recover. Flashing the file attached to the thread basically bricked the board. It would not POST. I would simply light up for around 1 second, then back off, in a loop.

I removed the chip, replaced it with the one from my other board, and it booted normally again. I had remembered to take a dump of the original bios rom and loaded up the fpt utility, swapped in the now bad bios, and then re-flashed. Power cycled after flashing, back in business.

I took a look at the two files in a diff took and noticed a huge part of the upper half of the bios is missing from the 2MB file and there are some other changes, but was unable to produce a merge with any confidence what i was doing was correct at all.

Ive reached out to the OP of the thread via PM, since i cannot post, but it has been a while since he has logged in, so i have low confidence ill get a response. If nothing else hopefully we can get this looked at so others who dont have the capability to recover dont brick their boards from what looks to be a confirmed bin!

Ive looked through these and other forums for more suited tools and process, to be met with mostly dead links and tools that arent working with this type of bios? When i think ive got a good bit of info, theres some other reason i cant explore that path, be it a stale board, or dead rapidshare/megaupload link.

Shot in the dark for some help here... its appreciated!

thanks

That's an EFI Type BIOS.
I need a R/W Everything Report as shown here:
http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Re...IC-request

I got a PM from someone else about that MB, the File I downloaded contained a 4 MB EFI BIOS (A41F1P03.BIN):

Hi, after playing around more last night after i created this thread, I found phoenix loader seem to accept and be able to modify the bios i wanted to use. The link you were sent in PM is for an older version of the bios.

After finding what looked like all of the required files (SLIC/SLC/Cert) and info my approach was to download the latest bios from foxconn, flash that image to my machine. After that was successful, i realized i needed this RW Everything report. I found that hirens miniXP boot image will run RW Everything once you add it to your boot media. Got the file (which i can attach later) and imported it and the other files into phoenix mod. It patched the bios, and i reflashed with it.

It seems to work to at least boot the machine and then install windows, however i am having problems activating, when using a collection keys i found on another board/thread.

Long story short, the stickied thread on this forum contains a 2MB file that will not work to flash the MEBIOS via fpt and will brick your board if you have no means to recovery. Please do not use the image provided in the other thread.

I will attach the RW Everything report and would like to compare what i built with one generated by someone who knows what they are doing Smile

Here is the link for the current/new version of BIOS with ivy bridge support:

Here is my RW everything report taken during after having flashed with the latest MEBIOS via fpt tool: (C33F1P01.bin)

Not sure what the SYSBIOS is all about, it comes in a directory the download i linked in the previous post. it is 2.6M vs 4.1M for the MEBIOS.

I did not mess with the SYSBIOS files and flashed from DOS with the MEBIOS version A41F1020.BIN, as described in the recovery i performed above. I then took an rw everything report in that version and compared to the report with the latest version of MEBIOS flashed and they did end up being different.

I have attached both. rwreportA for A41F1020.BIN and rwreportC for C33F1P01.bin.

password for zip is bios-mods

Try This one first:
Foxconn_H67S_A41F1020_Dell_SLIC_2.1_Module.rar
http://www.sendspace.com/file/i5waax

If that one doesn't work try this one:
Foxconn_H67S_A41F1020_Dell_SLIC_2.1_SSV2.rar
http://www.sendspace.com/file/kzjhd7

thanks, saw these and they do work for the purposes of flashing, but my build includes an ivy bridge CPU which cannot be used without the patches to the newest bios where ivy bridge is supported.

edit: well after some google-fu i found this: http://bbs.bios.net.cn/thread-277925-1-4.html

the third posting has a download available for the very latest version of the H67S bios. you can link/login via qq. google translate seems to do a good enough job to get you around even if you cant read chinese.
