Hi friend,
I have done the Mod for this laptop, but I don't remember if It's possible to reflash It
so use this tool, run It as Administrator and upload result file here :

http://rghost.net/52417082

Let me know
Regards

If It has AMD CPU It's almost impossible to reflash and Recovery Mode is not working.
Try he Recovery File meanwhile, follow instructions inside :

Look here :

Yes the CPU is AMD. (it's the same CPU you've modded for 14manj01, OP in the link).

I guess it'll be similar to his result:http://ge.tt/734Dtdi1/v/0

So now I need to backup BIOS before trying the BIOS mod flash?

EDIT: I attempted to flash the bios following the readme file but didn't work. Holding down fn + esc, and then powering on the laptop just took me straight to windows loading screen.

I'd like to test this modified BIOS out using the override feature to flash it and bypass the security check for modded BIOS's however, I need the unmodified BIOS at the ready on a USB stick to recover the laptop encase it bricks.
The somewhat newer Acer laptop BIOS files are hidden when you download them and I have been otherwise unable to extract it from the archive exe.

Can anyone tell me how to get the .fd file out of the orignal BIOS download?

One component of bios modding is unlockign these options so that they cen be accessed. Asus mobos arn't like normal consumer computers. They are designed for more demanding users, so the bios they make for them accomidates this type of people. Acers are just common consumer computers, so the bios programmers don't waste the time adding in options that are never going to be used.

Also being able to maniulate the multipliers and bus frequencies is controlled by the ME firmware, which is even more locked down than the bios for comsumer computers.

Anyhow, here's the bios with 2 hidden tabs unlocked. I haven't finished developing my Universal IFR Dumper, so I can't wasn't able to see what the options actual are Tongue

The bios update has a bios rom in it. Your just not looking in the right place Wink Don't assume that all files are packed in a standard way that archiving software like Winrar and WinZip can understand.

And I have no expirence with preforming the recovery procedure on Acer computers. Try a couple of the methods mentioned in the generic Insyde bios recovery procedure here.

@donovan6000

Hi Donovan, I would like to test this modded BIOS for you, but I also need the original BIOS .fd file to use for recovery encase it doesn't work. I PM'd you about this but got no response.

I am unable to get the original BIOS .fd file from the Acer zip as it is hidden, can you or someone help me with this part?

Thank you.
