Yes, it is.I already have successful mod for Acer with Broadwell platform.User used programmer to flash directly modded image, after that laptop works good.

I will work on re-soldering to my chip in order to flash. Do you have any advice on bypassing the HOLD lock? Will the programming software handle this or do I need to short the pin myself?

You may try use programmer+pomona SOIC8 clip, no de-solding process needed.

The chip itself is too small to be clipped, I've already experimented extensively on it. Thankfully, the mobo itself has pads that extend past the edges of the chip that I am able to solder to.
In order to get this to work we are going to need to bypass the second check. Flashing the bios through the patched insyde utility results in a firmware check error.

-unlocked tabs, now you can switch off bios lock.
after that you can flash new mod using Intel FPT (for example, you need disabled whitelist check for wlan adapters)
