[Request] Xeon E3 1220L v2 on Asus P8H61-I LX R2.0
#1
Hello,

Can I please ask for your help to add the microcode for Xeon E3 1220L V2 to the bios of Asus P8H61-I LX. My son built a NAS and unfortunately the Xeon cpu we bought seems to be not supported by the default bios.

Current CPU: I5 3470T

Future CPU: Xeon E3-1220L v2
CPU-Z: https://paste.pics/9I22P

Link to the original bios: https://send.firefox.com/download/006e9d...e6KIoJsHsw

Thank you

Post a screenshot of third (Mainboard) tab of CPU-Z.
Explain exactly what happens when you try to boot with your E3-1220L v2.

Thanks for the feedback. Please see below:

Manufacturer: AsusTek Computer Inc.
Model: Asus P8H61-I LX R2.0
Socket: Socket 1155 LGA

Chipset:
North Bridge: Intel Ivy Bridge Rev. 09
South Bridge: Intel H61 Rev. B3

BIOS:
American Megatrends Inc.
1106
(06/20/2014)

After installing the new CPU, the unit powers on, but nothing is displayed on the screen. As per the compatibility notes from Asus, some Xeons that share the same socket/specs are compatible:
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8H61I...pDesk_CPU/ but not this one that we bought. Sad

Thank you

No screenshot - no help.
And post a screenshot of list of graphics cards in Device Manager.

Sorry, I had to install windows as I had Linux running on the box. Please see the screenshots below.

Xeon E3-1220L v2 hasn't integrated graphics, but your system hasn't any discrete graphics. This is the reason of nothing is displayed on the screen.

Makes sense. That means I need to have a dedicated GPU (PCIe port) before being able to continue with the plan to replace the processor?

Yes, you're right.
