[Solved] Xeon E5440 Micro Update [Asus P5k SE] and [Asus P5K E/WIFI-AP]
#1
Hello,

i got this 2 board:

[Asus P5k SE]
[Asus P5K E/WIFI-AP]

and would like to use the Xeon E5440 CPU but its seams like that i need a bios Mod to run them.
The Bios tells me "Unknown CPU... need micro update.." and the CPU Temp is show as 100°C+.

ATM i use bios mods for these 2 mainboard from this forum:

[Asus P5k SE] so that is has AHCI Support, that is important to me for SSD...
http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-so...0#pid26370

[Asus P5K-E/WIFI-AP] update ROM's
http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-As...6#pid30756

Could someone help me out with a bios mod, because i have no clue how todo them.

[edit]: its solved, if someone is interested in the bios let me know.

Hi there,

If your still on this thread, then yes I am very interested in the BIOS. I have a p5K SE/EPU. Trying to get the E5440 working with it. I'm not sure if the EPU makes any difference, but at this moment in time anything is a god send. I am absolutely pulling my hair out (what's left of it!)

My CPU is now recognised but when it comes to installing windows 7 I get as far as expanding Windows files and no further!

With one BIOS it tells me it doesn't have all of the files but with a brand new installation?

ANY help from your experience would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Adrian
