Supermicro X9DR3-LN4F+ intel qdnr e5 2670v2 es
#1
Hi Team,

Does anyone have the Bios that might work with Supermicro X9DR3-LN4F+ and  intel qdnr e5 2670v2 ES ?

thanks.

Did you tried to boot it?

yes, when I got the board it powered on ( looping giving me error code then boots again ) I then upgraded to latest bios ( I got a v1 processor ) then now it does not even turn on ( when using the v2 es processor ) I tried 3.0 / 3.0a and latest bios all don't turn on when v2 es is the processor , but when I use the v1 processor it works normally. So I am sure rams ( ecc reg as the board / proc supports it as I have asus z9ped8 and processor works there so proc and rams are fully functional) do work. and I am using the built in video.

You must downgrade BIOS to version that allow to boot with errors.
Use external graphics card!
Than give me the link to this version.

Will need to test in a couple of days. I wasn't able to list the bios version.
external graphics card? any reason why? ( I'm new at this )

It reduces the number of possible errors. You need to find a simple PCI-E graphics card.
Note: usually adding microcode doesn't help to add support for ES CPU. It only help to increase stability.
BTW: you can try to make BIOS backup by Intel Flash Programming Tool
Win x64: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6400726/FPT_Windows64.zip
Win x86: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6400726/FPT_Windows32.zip
DOS: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6400726/FPT_DOS.zip

E.g.: fptw64 -BIOS -D c:\Backupbios.bin

Hi,
I am also having similar problem with this board (both X9DR3-LN4F+ AND X9DRi-LN4F+ are almost same with same bios i tested with former).
Detail behavior with QDUD v2 ES processor (installed in CPU1, CPU2 not installed):
black screen, no post messages but IPMI Sensor Readings shows following:
CPU1 Temp  N/A   Not Present!
CPU2 Temp  N/A   Not Present!
CPU1 Vcore Normal  0.976 Volts
CPU2 Vcore  N/A     Not Present!

In my caseeverthing tested ok with E5-2765 in CPU slot1 but with E5-269x v2 (SSpec QDUD, stepping B1/B2 CPUID: 306E2 ) it failed with above behavior. I changed the CPU I tried with latest bios version: 3.2 and also with 3.0b descried below

http://www.ssteambg.com/index.php/superm...ios-v-3-0b

It (Bios R3.0b release notes) says it should work with Ivy Town ES CPUs of stepping code B1, B2, L1, L2, R0, R1, C0, C1, M0, M1, S0, S1.
The ES QDUD is of stepping B1/B2.
306E2 IvyBridge-EP B1,2/L1,2/R0,1 : 20D | Intel iSCSI : 2.8.16 |
306E4 IvyBridge-EP C0,1/M0,1/S0,1 : 427 | Intel UEFI driver : 5.6.10 |

As 3.0b claim to have support for stepping B1/B2, C0, C1 etc, it should ideally be working with the above cpus.
Some claim to have success with Bios Revision 3.0a which I am not able to get on internet.

Do you guys know if there is anything in bios settings or anything that can lead to this behavior as described above?

Thanks in Advance!

Try to boot with BIOS version R 3.0 (X9DR3P3_705.zip) or R 3.0a (X9DR3P3_C04.zip)

BTW: BIOS version R 3.0b (X9DR3P4_527.zip) and R 3.2 (X9DR3P5_304.zip)

Thanks for quick response. I will try (3.0a and R3.0 other two i already tried) and update.

No Luck! same status. I flashed above versions  (last try was 3.0a) but still blank black screen after system is turned on.

I am wondering this because all these bios have revision OD against CPUID 06E2 last updated 2013/03/21 as per MMTool.
