Supervisor Password Stays After Reset
#1
Hello!

I have an old mini PC with AMI BIOS which has a supervisor password set which I know but unable to change.
What I have tried so far is resetting BIOS settings in different ways and changing supervisor password to another one or an empty one, however, the old password persists through all these manipulations.
Can anyone please help to get rid of the password?

Thanks in advance!

I replied to you about this at Win-raid, if you know the password you can reset it. Type the password in, set new blank password, done

Sure, that is what I would suppose. However, it's not changing! I've tried setting an empty one or a different one but it just stays anyway!
I'm gonna try one more time today to make sure.

That's not right Sad Yes, as soon as you enter the password and it's correct, and allows you to enter a new one (blank or different), it should then be saved.

Check make sure CMOS battery is good (around 3V with meter if you can), if not change it out and see if that matters, probably not but good to check since it's not saving the changes.

Checked it one more time now: enter password, go to security settings, choose change supervisor password, enter nothing. Everything looks fine, saving with F10. Upon reboot password prompt to enter BIOS...

Do the same for user password then, at same time as supervisor password.

I've tried that already. Unfortunately, the same password still persists.
Can the password be a part of ROM?
