thanks

oh,but that is the one we used to flash from the machine itself without hardware programer, right?
I remember I used it to dump the descriptor and dump specific parts of the firmware.

however I'm looking for some software to use from another with the external programer attached, I asume the machine will get bricked again while doing ME firmware tests and complete backups are also better I think ^^

this is my current way of flashing the chips

Dos environment

a old modded laptop with parallel port + the homemade LPT programmer

I think there must be some similar flashrom alternative for windows, well, I can still survive with the Dos method.
but windows software will help to save some time ^^

Welcome onboard CodeRush - am a big admirer of your work Smile

I'm travelling to visit family over the next couple of days so will only be dipping in and out of this forum via mobile, but it's great to have you contributing to the project as well. Looking forward to working all together - we're a great team here!

@Kasar, if last version of spipgm don't work on Windows, then I don't know any tool that works with that type of LPT-based programmers in Windows. I could write one, but I don't have a motherboard with LPT port.

@jkbuha, thanks. Christmas time is for family and friends, not for BIOSes and chips, I think. Smile

oh

I tested the latest spipgmW (wich is a windows version of spipgm) this one can write the chip, and in windows Smile

thank you

tried programing and verify the chip

both operations worked Smile

I also preffer this one now over flashrom because I dont have to specify programer name everytime I use it and it also show the operation percentaje so I know how much time remaning, I think it is also a little faster, but not sure ^^

hey kasar - did you ever get round to trying the hybrid me8 1.5mb firmware - would be great to see if we have any progress with ME.

also - any luck with shorting the pins on boot to enable r/w? sorry i'm still trying to decipher as much as possible off a mobile device Wink

@jkbuha

nope, didnt tried anything yet.

tomorrow will move to another city for stay in xmas with family, I will dont have too much time or tools over there, and I also will need to have the laptop operational since I have no other computer for traveling Big Grin

however I will be back on 2/january/2013

then if you point me to the hybrid firmware and timewalker give me a hand to integrate it on the rom file by hex editing on the chip file, I will be able to flash it and report results ^^
