( UEFI ) Unlock request for Dell L702x Bios

here there is the download link of last version bios (A012)

http://support.euro.dell.com/support/dow....aspx?c=it&l=it&s=gen&releaseid=R309590&SystemID=XPS_L702X&servicetag=&os=W764&osl=it&deviceid=27252&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=7&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=0&libid=1&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=467580

I think if the new bios would let to control max vcore it would be perfect.

any news?

Hi Ahmed,

I tried to flash your BIOS but it fails with "Flash BIOS is not an upgrade (same or older...)" and I did not find a "Force" Setting?!

I have time an will test your stuff fast!

Do you know if its possible to get Fan and/or VCore settings or is there a hidden Key Combination to open a Thermal Control Panel like in previous Dells (FN+SHIFT 1 5 3 2 4, FN+SHIFT R). Any help greatly appreciated and if there will be success in Controlling or modding the fan settings I will for sure donate!

Best Regards
Marc

refer to this thread to get the modified flash utility for flashing the modified bioses :-

http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-XP...7#pid33437

also , note that no crisis disk is available now for the UEFI and flash at your own risk ........................ i believe that the worst case will be a black screen when entering the setup utility and you will still able to boot to windows ....... but the crisis disk will be more safe .

As I read in the other thread in worst case I have to take apart the laptop to remove the battery thats Ok.

Now I was able to flash the modded A11 (from my original A12) but everything is still stock.

It would be nice if you could use the A12 version for further investigation :
http://support.us.dell.com/support/downl....aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R309590&formatcnt=0&libid=0&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&fileid=467580

The main thing Im looking for is a way to change then fan behaviour (VCore undervolting would be nice of possible) and if there is no hidden Menu could that be patched manually?

:-) Thanks for helping out

PS: The Author of Speedfan was able to change the Fan-Speeds but the TianoCore is interfering every few seconds and the system stutters. So disabling that would be another route. He mentioned something of SMI calls implemented in a non standard way do you know more about that or have Documentation ?

A slight Bump :-) and hopefor news ... It would rock to see something like the "Platform Thermal Configuration" Menu you were able to unlock for the M17x-R2

the M17X-R2 is a standard phoenix bios not UEFI so it was easy to unlock .
the SMI calls and controlling fan speeds is managed by the EMBEDDED CONTROLLER FIRM WARE ............... if i have edited the EC FW and something goes wrong then the EC CHIP is totally gone ( no crisis disk for flashing the EC FW ) its very hard and dangerous at the same time to edit EC FW .
please wait and i will upload about 4 mods to try in few days , i`m working on it now .

Hi!
Is anyone chance to unlock VBIOS like that Mx14-R1 ?
Nvidia Gt555m is not bad m GPU for OC , but for good results unlock VBIOS for change voltage is required ...

I'm new to bios mods so I apologize for my ignorance in advance.

Can we get the bios modded so that the ram speed is set to 1600? My ram is ddr3-1600 cl9-9-9-28, processor is i7-2720QM, so I know the ram and cpu support 1600. If so, please point in the right direction.

Thank you.
