HM65 chipset supports SATAIII 6Gb/s, but is locked at SATAII 3Gb/s by HP.
HWINFO64 reports controller is SATAIII capable.

Base Address ABAR = C5008000 @ offset:24
Memory address C5008000 has feature code EF20FF65. Should be EF30FF65. (20 for SATAII and 30 for SATAIII).

The memory space at C5008000 is R/WO so cannot be changed once written or system is rebooted so the new code needs written by the bios.

Any progress? I've got a dv7-5050es, the spanish version of dv7-4290us. I'm unable to use sata3 on port 0 or 1, the six ports are recognized as sata2. Recently I bought an OCZ Vertex 4 SDD and discover that HP locked sata ports to SATA2
