[Unlocked] HP Envy 14 1190ea InsydeH20 BIOS
#1
Hi

I've returned to this site today, and found that the Insdye BIOS forum section no longer has the 'under development' description. It looks like something has progressed. Can somebody explain what has happened since it was labelled as under development please?

Information much appreciated

(ps. What is the news on Unlocking and modifying InsydeH20 BIOSES?)

News are some of them can be unlocked, others still are under development. That's why we can take requests now Wink

Thanks for the prompt reply Smile.. I have a HP Envy14 (i5 460m processor which has integrated Intel HD Graphics). When powering on, I am able to access its InsydeH20 BIOS advanced options, and I attempt to change the graphics from Hybrid (switchable graphics) to dGPU (discrete graphics) and then Exit saving changes, and the display goes black, but it doesnt sound like the system reboots (as I suspect it should). I then have to just power off, and back on, and enter the advanced options to find that the graphics setting is back to Hybrid.

I need to enable the dGPU option in BIOS for a certain popular Operating System to boot up properly, because at the moment, when I'm booting the OS (...X Wink) the bootloader will detect the ATI Radeon 5650m graphics I have, but once the actual operating system begins booting, it will default to attempting to load the Intel HD graphics and completely ignores the ATI card. I believe this is because of the graphics being set to Hybrid.

What are your thoughts on this matter? Can anything be done at this time?

Uploading test file. This is RSA signed bios, many times suffer after modding a side effect that semi-bricks laptop. If you suffer it just remove CMOS battery for a minute.

Try to avoid it saving changes without exit bios setup and then exit without saving. Try it at your own risk, you're warned. Wink I wait your news.

Find file in second HERE of my signature. Wink

I've tested your file. There are more options in the system configuration tab. You say to save without exiting, but there isnt an option for that... :S

I enter the advanced BIOS settings by pressing 'a' with 'F10' at power on. In the advanced tab there is 'Video Configuration'. Within this is 'Display Mode', which can be set to iGPU, dGPU or Hybrid. By default, it is set to Hybrid, and when I try changing this to dGPU and exit saving changes, the screen goes black and stays black, and pressing any button repeatedly will make the system make a beeping sound. I am forced to power off, and when powering on, I enter BIOS advanced settings, and the Display mode is set to Hybrid, it hasnt been changed.

When I try changing it to iGPU, the system seems to save and exit successfully, I then enter BIOS advanced settings immediately and the Display Mode is set to Hybrid (hasnt been changed). However, I am now presented with a different set of settings within the Video Configuration, including 6 settings with their names starting with 'IGD'.
