Awesome, when I'll have the cpu I tried it, I'll give you a feedback.

Thanks you

Sorry I have another question. What do you say about the i7 2710qe? I know the tdp is higher, but the socket compatibility seems to be the same as the 640m. And the problem of the TDP could be fixed with an universal PSU with a higher wattage, or am I wrong?

Thanks you

It has different incompatible socket.

ohh, I've looked on the Intel ARK and had had the impression they was the same. Anyway It's nevermind.
Do you know if there is a Sandy Bridge cpu that fits In my socket?  Confused I did some researches on the net, but there are different oppinion about Sandy-Bridge on Arrandale sockets, didn't understood verry well.

Thanks you

ok, understood that Sandy-Bridge can't run on my socket, due to a different position of the pins on the new cpu. Am I right? Sad
Anyway, on the first link I've seen the i7-940xm that use an older architecture than Arrandale of the i7-640m but It's a quad core, so it should be a little bit more performant than the 640m, right? What do you think?
Sorry if I'm borring you with all these question.

Thanks you

This CPU with quad core will burn your laptop.
25W -> 55W

But this problem is not fixable with a new universal PSU? I mean, if I buy a new PSU that can ensure the extra 20W(my current cpu ha 35W TDP not 25) required by the 940xm, could it work, or there is something else that is needed to handle the new TDP at part of the PSU?

Thanks you
