Xeon L5408 Support Request [Dell Vostro 230 MOBO]
#11

And I still need answers on my other questions.

Hi, here is a screenshot of the Mainboard and Memory Tabs from CPUZ (did this on winxp using the celeron 775 cpu) Hi, I was able to back flash the bios to 1.3.0 and then upgrade it to your modded 1.4.0 the way you said I should with the bat file. Then interestingly, Windows xp booted with the Xeon. Then it said it installed a new device and needed to reboot. After that, it won't boot again and just crashes when it tries. Also, no installers (winxp, 7, or 10) will work with the new xeon now. I have never been more stumped.

OK. BIOS Backup doesn't need anymore.
Try to boot new CPU with external graphics card (not intergraded).

Been trying that this whole time back and forth Sad. Definitely not an iGPU issue. that was one of my initial suspicions early on.

Many people say that Xeon E5405, E5410, L5408 and L5410 are very instable CPU for 771->775 mod.
Xeon E5440, E5450 & X5450 are recommended.

Any ideas what I should do then...? Try to return the L5408?

Do you think it would be at all worth it to try a different motherboard?

I'm not sure that you can find suitable motherboard for L5408.
So CPU replacement is better.

Hey, I know its been a long time but now I am the proud owner of a X5450. Should work alot better than the non-standard L5408. However it doesn't post sadly with that. Can you get me a modded bios that will support that? sSpec is SLBBE.
