enabling oc for gigabyte b75m-d2v
#1
Hey,
how diffucult would be to enable overclocking on this motherboard. I never suspected i would need cpu overclock, but they devs broke game i am playing and it is single core, so only cpu freq matters. I have 20 fps. Don't know if this is possible.
I would appreaciate it.

Please send me zipped package of BIOS images, you can F12 to USB for screenshot. I need to see Advanced Frequency Settings page, Advanced CPU Core Features, Advanced Memory Settings, Channel A Timing Settings (Scroll up/down so I can see all settings you can see, only A channel necessary)

What CPU are you using?

Here is mod BIOS, enabled a few settings you were missing. Flash using Qflash or from DOS

When i was searching for q-flash i found article 10 mistakes avoid when flashing bios. Don't you need to know revision number ? And how did you even know i had version f5. It wasn't in pictures i sent you. I supposed you asked me for everything you need to know. And now i think about it, i just want to make sure you have everything you need to. Btw in case i flashed it and it didn't work, can i reflash it back ? Also should i reset everything to default before flashing ?

I downloaded the latest BIOS and modified that for you. If you are using an older version please tell me the version you want modified instead.
I mod BIOS all the time, and Gigabyte is on the easier side of modifications, so yes I had all I needed to know from you except if you wanted some older BIOS modified instead.

You can flash back to stock if you want. Any time you flash the BIOS, yes you should load optimal defaults first, to remove any overclocks and make sure it's stable, then flash BIOS.

No i had f5. Thanks for the info, i will try that than. Tho what do you mean exactly by: test if it is stable ? I am using ahci, i can't exactly go to windows, after i load default settings. But that can be probably reverted in regedit, not sure. You meant like cpu and ram stress test, or memtest ?

I jut meant put back to defaults, it will be stable then unless you have bad memory or something, which you'd already know about if you did.
You do not need to enter windows, load optimal defaults, reboot back to BIOS, then flash BIOS. Then reboot back to BIOS, load optimal again on new BIOS, then set your AHCI settings and whatever else you want... done

I flashed new bios and it doesn't let me change bclk, or multiplier. I wanted to change it to 100, because it should be closest to 100 as possible. I have bclk on 99.79 for some reason, because i have bad motherboard. And still i cannot change multiplier more than to 3.7 ghz. Before i could change it, but not higher than 3.7 ghz aswell. Is it possible to fix it ? And ofc i have cpu with K at the end. Also i use password to bios and now it wants me to enter password each time computer starts, even i don't enter into bios and i use setup password, which should ask only when entering into setup.

This is normal, 99.xx bclk, this is due to ME FW, and will always vary some as the ME FW is changed too.

Show me image of the new BIOS, is blck grayed out? Did you try pgup/pgdn keys, or +/- on the keypad, or directly type in a number?

You can only change multiplier to the max Intel set for your CPU. What CPU do you have? K should be unlocked, so yes, you should be able to change, let me look at the BIOS images before I can guess any futher. be sure you try all methods I mentioned above to change multiplier too, and be sure NumLock key is not enabled when using the number pad (Unless/when you try the pgup or arrow keys there too)

You set the password, so that's your choice to do. If you want to remove, enter BIOS, go to where you set it, set it again and enter current, then enter blank as the new updated password.

"User" password is a "power-on+BIOS" type password = is a power on password and must be entered to boot or enter Setup/BIOS
"Admin/Super" password is a "Enter BIOS" only type password = this only limits access to Setup/BIOS and is only asked for when entering Setup/BIOS

Whichever you have bugging you, is the one you need to set a pass on, reboot and then enter it again, then change to new blank one and save.
