For me, it works and normally switch to AHCI mode. Just change the name of the BIOS on A7592IMS.Q80. Now it flash. Thanks for bios.

Raflix, please show a screenshot Device Manager (IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers) after flashing.

Late in the game, but it works here. Flashed it, afterwards could pick IDE/AHCI/RAID modes where before only IDE was available.
SSD drive now works at full speed.

Thanx

Hi, MarcoMjet.
And that nothing can be done to AHCI earned this fu..ing motherboard?

NO, nothing.  In summary, AHCI/RAID does not work for this -P28 motherboard and related motherboards (-P26, etc), unless you add a new controller card with those capabilities.  Real shame because it is a nice motherboard blending oldschool and newschool features in mATX form.

It's been a few years since this thread was active but in case someone lands here via search engine wondering about AHCI on that motherboard (and related motherboards), let's review the basics ...

--

AHCI STATUS with ICH7 SouthBridge family members ...

ICH7 --> NO ... [fake AHCI if AHCI option re-enabled in BIOS Setup]
ICH7B --> NO ... [fake AHCI if AHCI option re-enabled in BIOS Setup]
ICH7R --> YES ... [working AHCI]
ICH7DH --> YES ... [working AHCI]
ICH7M --> YES ... [working AHCI]

--

MSI G41M-S01, -P26 and -P28 seem to be Intel 82801GB ICH7 only.

I took a good look at my own MSI G41M-P28 motherboards yesterday, while updating the BIOS option ROMs and other modules, as noted in this thread:
https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-G...IOS-Update

From best I could tell this is how my -P28s show up on ICH7 device enumeration:
- Intel 82801GB ICH7
- Intel® 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 27DF
- Intel® 82801GB/GR/GH (ICH7 Family) Serial ATA Storage Controller [IDE mode] - 27C0

"Re-enabling" "AHCI" on the BIOS Setup for this motherboard (with Intel 82801GB plain ICH7) is nothing more than placebo, won't work.  This is not a BIOS limitation, it is a chipset limitation .. unless Intel is pulling a "trolljob" with plain ICH7.  Evidence suggests AHCI (and RAID) doesn't really exist natively for -P28.

It's possible MSI had intentions on delivering -P28 with proper ICH7GR, etc.  In the original bios, they did include an option rom RAID module meant for device 8086:27c3 (82801GR/GDH (ICH7R/ICH7DH) SATA Controller [RAID mode]) but no such ICH7 exists for this motherboard ! .. I happily updated that option rom regardless, for completeness' sake !

Cheers,
XmX
