ixtreme M5850 BIOS modded! Pls have a look b4 flashing
#1
Hi folks!

THE MODDED BIOS IS IN POST #7 Smile

My girlfriend owns a Packard Bell Ixtreme with the Acer ixtreme M5850 Board.
I already made a modded BIOS from the newest you can get for the board which is the P01-B0,
though have not yet flashed it.

The Chipset on the Board is the Intel H67 and the CPU is a Intel Core i5 2nd Gen 2300 non K socket 1155.

BTW-> Is it dangerous to set all settings in the modded BIOS to USER or are there any settings that should
stay on Default in all cases?

Thanks for the help Smile

Did you tried to install "8+4GB"?
Make and post CPU-Z TXT report with this configuration.

I planned on trying this today. Will report ^^

Okay just tested...
8GB+4GB works like a charm. Tried the remaining 2GB in both of the remaining slots and he didn't like it. Didn't boot up.
So guess its 12GB for now. I try to find a cheap 4GB or 8GB now ^^

That leaves my remaining question about the Settings to USER.
Flashed the new BIOS, new Splash works and I got 2 or 3 new options (enabled like what felt like 500) on including
Core Multiplier set to 28
I read about people who claim they got 33 on the 2300 model. When I choose anything else between 29 and 33 it says: Invalid Input range... Have I missed something while editing the BIOS?

As I though i5-2300 supports 8GB DIMM.
Download RWEverything. Try portable version.
Press CPU MSR registers button, press User list button or F5, type a=0xCE, press Add, type b=0x194, press Add, press Done.
Post values of MSR with addressees 0xCE and 0x194.

Wow okay. Will try to get this done on her computer. Sometimes it's hard to find the time doing this ^^

Hope that's right.
Is it normal that in AMIBPC there are some group names 2 times? Like Advanced or Exit but with completely different options? Can I enable always both of the groups or do I have to choose?

And here is the modded BIOS everything changed to USER and new Splash Screen:

Would be cool if you or someone else could have a look at it, if needed make changes and reup or just tell me if fine ^^

You have non-K CPU and you can't change its main multiplier.
MSR_PLATFORM_INFO[28]==0, so a multiplier for Turbo Boost isn't programmable too.
P.S. Try to ask someone else about unlocking, I make CPU support mods only.

Still the non K models should be ocable at least 400 mhz above turbo. You can read it all over the web. 50 percent saying "non k means non oc!" Other half is like "I could oc 400mhz". Just search "Intel 2300 overclocking"

What means the stuff you posted exactly? 28==0 and such!?

And whom should I ask?

It means that 28th bit of MSR with address 0xCE and name MSR_PLATFORM_INFO is equal zero.

MSR_0x194[19:17]=4, so this CPU supports overclocking +400 Mhz.
But H67 chipset doesn't support this feature. But P67 chipset supports it.
