[solved] ASUS P5K SE/EPU - AHCI

Try this one. Check whether the AHCI is really enabled.

Hi Antinomy,

I am having such ASUS board and installed your mod. Changed setting to AHCI in Bios.... now the ssd gets found and windows starts, but only for 1-2 seconds, then progress stops, the moving windows logo does never appear.

I have set the registry key and I tried to boot from dvd to possibly reinstall windows, but the CD can't be booted.... once I hit a key to boot from dvd as requested, the error message appears. Is my IDE messed up because of the other updates in the rom?

TAHNKS! for your help here, guys Smile

I wonder if a custom BIOS (this one in particular) can cause Windows Experience Index to fail with the specific message that Windows 7 (Ultimate x64) can't calculate the CPU performance?

Question
Hello!

I know that this thread has "solved" in the topic but I have a humble request - can someone modify the original Asus BIOS 0501 (in the attachment - straight from Asus website) to just unlock the AHCI option? Florin9doi's version is heavily modified and I just want AHCI option, nothing more and nothing less. Pretty please with a cherry on the top ;-)

cheers

I have a P5KPL-AM EPU board, tried to flash with your bios mod but it shows no matter what or how I do it:

"ROM ID in the file is incompatible with with existing BIOS"

Could somebody help me, please? How can I modify the ROM ID?

Thanks & cheers!

Asus P5K SE-EPU - AhciBiosMod dsdt smbios extensions - from above mediafire link (First one of three in that folder)
Changed ROM ID to match P5KPL-AM EPU board

Original ROM ID (I guess? ASUS P5K SE/EPU 0501)
A0994000 / (Hex = 41 30 39 39 34 30 30 30)

Changed to (Asus P5KPL-AM-EPU-0501)
A1350000 / (Hex = 41 31 33 35 30 30 30 30)

You can do this possibly by only changing the one ROM ID in it's own ROMID module, via MMTool 3.2x, but I found two instances of ROM ID via hex, so changed both that way instead.

Do it again with AFUDOS and don't flash the boot block (/B) then, it doesn't need reflashed every time anyway Big Grin

AFUDOS BIOSfilename.bin /p
Or
AFUDOS BIOSfilename.bin /p /k

I tried with 4 different versions of afudos and I got 3 different errors:
1: the boot block is invalid.
2: BIOS does not support AFU
3: Problem getting flash information Sad
