disable broken onboard lan through moded BIOS?

My Gigabyte EP35C-DS3R (rev2.1) suddenly started looping right after the first post screen. It's behavior is exactly as seen in this video. The cause on hardware level is somewhat different though. The Realtek 8111B LAN chip on my board has surface damage which caused it to fail over time, probably through oxidization. What happens is that the bios checks the devices on startup and when it reaches the LAN it does not get the expected answer from it and restarts the system.

I was wandering if I could mod the bios to remove this check or ditch the onboard LAN device as a whole from it so I can use the rest of the motherboard. Is that possible? I could try to do it myself if I was pointed to the right direction..
