Upload bios dump which read with programmer.

Isn't this file https://www.sendspace.com/file/gwjsif what is called a bios dump file? this backup I extracted from fpt and universal and it was exactly the same file. If it wasn't the required dump file, then kindly provide me with the tools name and I will get you the dump file you need

Hello,

Requests for this particular laptop have been made before but the file links in the existing threads no longer work. I addition, I've only found one positive feedback. I contacted a few people from the existing threads via email/PM and am awaiting their reply.

However, does anyone have a working modded BIOS lying around? I am currently on v1.05 (96CN19WW) but on Lenovo's page the current version is 1.17 (96CN31WW):
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products...s/DS100939

I don't care much about the version, as long as it works. Trying to get my new Intel 8260 to work.

Thank you.

PS: I also looked at the "generic Insyde BIOS" thread but it doesn't seem to apply, as the Lenovo BIOS comes with a 9+MB *.rom file and not a 1MB *.bin file.

Programming back with SPI-programmer and all OK! Dont any whitelist with Intel® Dual Band AC-7265.

Can you please post there the tutorial? I can't access the link above Sad

Hi there. Apologies if I have totally failed with the basics, but I have had a look around the forum first. I have two working Lenovo Yoga 2 13 laptops and a dead one that I can experiment on if needed. Of the two working ones, one is the i5 version and one is the i7 version. I stupidly bought 5Ghz cards for them recently as I need to move to 5Ghz only at home and had no idea about the whitelist scenario, I even bought Lenovo FRU'd card but heyho....

I have updated the i7 version to 96CN31WW (V1.17), I believe the i5 is on 96CN29WW (V.1.15). I have purchased the USB SPI programmer and SOIC clip so from a hardware programming side I believe I am good to go, but I would really appreciate it if someone could answer these few questions please -

1. Are the ROM backups for each individual machine mentioned above needed for modification, are they unique somehow or can just the manufacturer-released ROM update files be provided to then be modded? Not paranoid at all or anything like that, just unsure...

2. If backups do indeed need to be taken, if someone can link me to the Insyde backup utility etc used I would really appreciate it as I failed at basic searching on here it seems, apologies again.... /EDIT - I have located the two backup tools and have run them on the i7, will run them on the i5 when I can get to it later today

3. Once I provide these files, if someone on here would be able to modify them in order for me to use the Intel 3165NGW cards (Lenovo FRU 00JT497), that would be amazing. I have seen donations mentioned and if wanted, please point me to the guidelines regarding this and I am happy to do so!

Thanks,

Nick Smile

Hi
use SPI-programmer + clip, make bios damp and report

Thanks, but on the i7 one at least, I just used the "Backup_Tools12" and "Universal Bios Backup" applications. These produced "LENOVO-96CN31WW(V1.17).rom" and "results.rar", so I would guess that is acceptable for that machine at least if needed. I think the SPI programmer is only needed for the writing, as I believe these are write-protected via software at least?

Once I know exactly what is what, I will gladly formulate the official request post in the desired format for such requests and link to the files, thanks.

Ok, well thanks to both Dudu2002 and Exetico, I have taken a SPI programmer dump of the bios for the i7 machine, link is valid for 1 day. Details/request below, if someone could give this a go please I would really appreciate it and can make a small donation per-machine -

Model - Lenovo Yoga 2 13 (not the pro version)
Model name - 20344
Current installed BIOS version - 96CN31WW(V1.17)
Current installed EC Version - 96EC31WW(V1.17)
Wifi card being blocked by BIOS - Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 - Lenovo FRU 00JT497

Link to the BIOS dump made via SPI Programmer - http://rgho.st/6VmVTSYvS

Link to Lenovo support page link for 96CN31WW update - http://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/Yoga-2-13-Notebook-Lenovo?tabName=Downloads&linkTrack=Mast:SubNav:Support:Drivers%20and%20Software|Drivers%20and%20Software&beta=false

Feature/Alteration request - Please remove the whitelist system so that I can install the above wifi card or any other card if necessary, assuming that is possible, thanks!
