[SOLVED] Levono T520 - 1.46 / 1.36 BIOS ADV Feat. unlock
#1
I did read thru every single post there is about T520, even quite advance guides how to mod UEFI/BIOS myself. Also failed to find any build tool to control what options are visible (Tested: Andy P (MDL) Phoenix-Insyde-EFI SLIC Tool v256). Seems, I fail to understand what I am replacing and well not as smart as some people here.

So, help welcome.

UEFI BIOS version: 1.46 (8AET66WW)
Embedded Controller: 8AHT42WW
Product: 42436X6

What I would need:

- Memory speed control.
- Latency control (at least tCL, tRCD, tRP, tRAS would be nice).
- CPU multiplier control.
- FSB speed control.

Original UEFI/BIOS file:

- ISO: http://support.lenovo.com/za/en/downloads/migr-77002
- Utility: http://support.lenovo.com/za/en/downloads/ds018810

Found, so far working (white list - wifi):

https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads...st-1343572

That white list allows to switch WIFI, but that doesn't help me much as not after white listing bios.

Allright, found solution... I was using 1.46 / 1.36 and this works as downgrade to 1.45 / 1.36.

NOTES:

- It's good idea to reset BIOS defaults and remove passwords.
- If you need to override settings while having Supervisor Password:
* Remove batteries/power (yellow ugly thing below keyboard, notebook battery and AC) -> press power 10 times + hold it for 30 seconds -> restore battery -> power-up when you receive CMOS error hit F1 -> change any settings you want -> save'n'exit.
(note #1: This will not remove HDD password or power-up password, so, don't lock yourself up.)
(note #2: Yes, I know you can short eeprom, but if you are professional you don't disable security, you go thru security.)

Instructions:

1. Download from https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-L...-45?page=3
- https://app.box.com/s/k5qhp8utonocceej03z2rtf9hpyzzdlh (MD5: 8ad420eadff1031e3377ed6de9be57b8 *ThinkPad_T520_T520i_8auj26us_8AET65WW_ADV_NWL.rar)
2. Extract to some easy location like: "C:\B\" (optinal: rename "bios_mod"-folder to "M"-folder)
3. Run '8auj26us.exe' and extract it to: "C:\B\ORG\" from setup and do not install, but uncheck installation and exit.
4. Open Administrator CMD at "C:\B\ORG\" and run command:
Code:
winflash.exe /mode=2 /sa /vcpu /console /cs /vbl C:\B\ORG\8AET65WW\$01C9100.FL1
5. Reboot
6. Open Administrator CMD at "C:\B\M\" and run command:
Code:
winflash.exe /mode=2 /sa /vcpu /console /cs /vbl C:\B\M\8AET65WW\$01C9100.FL1
7. Reboot

Done.

At least at my system I went with UEFI BIOS 1.46 / 1.36 (since I was stupid and didn't read the levono readme of "not downgradable"), but seems above downgrades the BIOS to 1.45 / 1.36 and all "advanced"-tab features are open beside everything working just fine.

Hmm, found nice way of [censored] around dealing with Levono idiotic BIOS before I had to return hardware to my customer.

Is seems, if you are locked out of BIOS you do not have to remove the battery. Since got bored started playing out with system time and this is probably common knowledge, but if you set System or BIOS time before flash time (01-01-2000 is nice). You can remove all protections in BIOS.

(OFFTOPIC: heh, I'm sorry for extra post, but I also learned that I truly hate levono.)
