It's OK. You don't have to deal with them. I just wanted to make things easier for Steven by sharing what I found.

Thanks,

I can perform this mod now. ETA is hopefully the next 1-2 days.

Hello laurenceyu,

Using the same modifications to BIOSCOD06.ROM (a file from your BIOS image using AndyP's PhoenixTool) as described by Maxinator500, I have removed your WiFi/WAN card whitelists. You should no longer encounter the infinite loop that throws an "Unauthorized" error and prevents the system from booting when you insert your upgraded wireless networking card.

As for unlocking hidden settings, it appears that there aren't really many of any significant value (unless you can find one in the STRINGS.txt file I uploaded a few posts ago0.

In reference to your initial question about upgrading the GPU - I am not sure how to upgrade the necessary code in the BIOS to allow for a new GPU installation, and code in other chips (such as the North Bridge and the new GPU itself) may need to be modified as well. Many laptops have GPUs soldered onto the motherboard, and if this is the case for your notebook, then you would have to desolder the old one and solder the new one on. This is assuming hardware compatibility. I'm certainly not saying it's impossible, but there are many other factors that may or may not go into it that could make the process more difficult.

Let me know how it goes!

Quote:Please remember to take proper precautions when flashing your BIOS. Even if the BIOS image is safe, the flashing process can still fail. Make sure that [if applicable] your notebook is fully charged (100%), that the power adapter is properly connected, and that the chance of a power outage occurring is as minimal as possible. Do not interrupt the flashing process. If possible, it is good practice to have a working CRISIS recovery disk handy when flashing your BIOS. Use the flashing instructions for your particular computer brand. DO NOT DO ANYTHING UNNECESSARY!!!

I take absolutely NO responsibility for ANY damages that may occur to you, your computer, your personal belongings, your neighbor's cat, or any other personnel or equipment as a direct or indirect result or consequence of your, or any one else's, use or misuse of any of the files that are in this archive at the present or at any time in the past or the future. You assume full responsibility for any damages or inconveniences that may occur by choosing to flash, or otherwise use or misuse, this image or any of the other files within this archive.

Have fun! Smile

One other thing you could try is Ahmed Hossam's flashing method: https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-H...1#pid37701

This is usually what I recommend for flashing modified Phoenix BIOSes. Let me know if it works or if you get another error.
