[REQUEST] HP Envy 17 2000 F.1D Advanced Menu Unlock via H20UVE
#1
Hey everyone!

I’m trying to unlock the Advanced BIOS menu on my HP Envy 17 2000 (it’s running BIOS F.1D). Unfortunately this BIOS version wasn’t released publicly, and HP only used it in their service centres. I’ve gotten somewhere with it, but I’m stuck and could really use some advice from the pros here!

-  HP Envy 17 2000
-  Insyde BIOS - F.1D
-  Bin Dump attached - Dumped via InsydeFlash tool

What I’ve Done:

Extracted the BIOS using UEFITool NE Alpha 70 and parsed it with IFRExtractor 1.6.0 (attached outputs.txt).

Enabled AHCI instead of RAID via H20UVE. (Managed to get Windows 11 running again)

Identified the two bins that are critical:

Setup.bin 1.6 (ger): Locked UEFI settings.
Setup.bin 5.6 (ger): Contains the hidden "Advanced" tab
(I am using the ger view since the English one seems to be messed up in the outputs)

Current Roadblocks:

I am having trouble finding the right settings/variables to enable the Advanced Menu in BIOS as I believe that it might also require other dependencies.

I have also noticed an option for UEFI boot but I am not certain if this could potentially brick this old device. HP does have a UEFI Diag Tool parition via F2 at startup. No visible options however exist in the BIOS concerning UEFI Boot / Secure Boot.

Grok/ ChatGPT believes that changing the following two Offsets to 0 should be enough but I really question this.
  • Offset 0x80:
    • Row 80, column 0: The value is 04.
  • Offset 0x81:
    • Row 80, column 1: The value is 00.
  • Summary:
    • 0x80: 0x04 (4 in decimal).
    • 0x81: 0x00 (0 in decimal).

Any help is appreciated!

Also if anyone requires this BIOS for this ancient machine... I would just need a few instructions on on how to pack it properly inclusive of a Sig file.
