Hello,
Hope anyone will read this. I have a problem with HP Pavilion G6. It had a cracked win8 so I decided to put Linux Mint XFCE in it. During install I ticked additional media codecs option and that had to touch secure boot option. After restart screen just blinked and that's all. Caps lock is blinking twice indicating BIOS corruption. I've tried BIOS reset with key combination of win+B or win+V, no result. I've unpluged CMOS battery and left it for half an hour, didn't help. HP support page tells me "haha we don't support this anymore, go buy a new HP laptop". Since few days I'm wandering through different sites and this page looking for BIOS to flash (I hope that's still possible) that will match this laptop. The closest thing I managed to achieve is to create a recovery usb with 0183A.bin in "current" folder, it didn't match (on boot it tries to read usb and restarts) but I got a bootable repair usb. Then I put bin files from F2A bios installer and with those after power up the screen lights up and stays like this. Also the fact that someone who was refurbishing this laptop glued the chasis is not helping and currently I have trouble to physically check what mobo is there with what bios die.
From Hp renew sticker:
PN: B1U88EAR#UUW (supposedly it is g6-2016so)
SN: 5CD21371CP
Thanks for any hints, any help, anything. It would be a shame for this laptop to die in such ridiculous way.
