Hi, I have an ASUS K53U and i recently upgraded the BIOS to 223 and after that I've runned the performance assesment aplication under windows 7 and I got a lower score for CPU calculations per second and for graphics.. from here I deduced that the 214 BIOS is powering the CPU more intelligent so I'll downgrade it back to 214.. it says here that 214 optimizes the CPU function so.. feel free to do the same... regards!

I'd like to get an unlocked version of BIOS for my ASUS AMD E-450 processor, with an ASUS K53U motherboard.

My current version of BIOS is AMI version 216, last updated 8/26/11

I can roughly confirm your findings. Quite interesting if you ask me.
So.. That's why I also attached modified 214. Tongue  Enjoy.

Bios can be flashed straight via Easy Flash.

Huge thanks to JRandomHacker

EDIT: I re-tested the thing, and at most I get 0.1 points variations. Nothing so special to justify using an older BIOS. Especially given 221 introduces the very important Erratum 688 fix.
EDITbis: *possibly* in the update of AGESA from 1.1.0.0 to 1.2.0.0?
EDIT2: Speaking of, remember to enable "Memory Clear" in North Bridge memory configuration to avoid erratum 432 (and perhaps some POST-bootloader screen glitch I seldom have been having)
EDIT2bis: ok, that seems to have been fixed just by using Static POST Logo Type
EDIT3: Funny fix once you read Erratum 474!

EDIT4: Also to check n°455, 530, 551, 560, 578, 596, 629, 639 and 435 (and while we are there look at bits 4:0, and D18F2xF4_x200/D18F3xE8 to actually get 1333 ram).

EDIT5: it's christmas! Did ya know that even chipsets have loads of bugs? They should have alleged fixes too.. Though as said below, AGESA & co are off-limits

Hey guys I've looked in the forum and didnt find an unlocked bios for my PC, I would unlock it myself if there were easier tutorials on how to do it. I would like to overclock my PC from the BIOS if possible... If anyone can help please help me.

So here is the download link for the BIOS I need:

So.. I'm still struggling to figure out why I get random "graphics usage void spikes" in closed source drivers.. and I thought I might try to update vbios as well.
Since contrarily to a dedicated card, an APU has it bundled with normal bios, no normal extraction tool work.
Leading to nothing and nobody (not that there are all these people talking about vbioses in the first place on the net) ever bringing the argument up.

After quite a lot of digging (only between desktop motherboards, since they seem to be the only things OEMs still feature on their websites with full-fledged functional search filters) I found the ASUS C60M1-I to have the newest version. 012.036.000.034.000000 compared to our normal 012.036.000.029.041140.
EDIT: to check gpudbs for possible reports of even newer bioses

At first, I tried Fernando's MMTool Option ROM instructions, but for some reason (while actually working) it was still keeping the old vbios in the rom.
Unsatisfied I went the UEFITool way: I extracted the raw section of CSMCORE, found the first Wrestler ATOMBIOS block, then hex replaced it with the one from C60M1-I bios.
ATI vbioses Every option ROM starts with 55 AA bytes (and at least this in particular ends with quite a lot of FF FF), but I also copied the little kind-of header they seem to have there. Ultimately they work, so GG.
I don't know why BIOS main screen is still reporting older version string, but once booted GPU-Z clearly show everything's fine.
trivia: in OemSMBIOS you can see K73BY, K53BY, K43U and K43BY models mentioned alongside K53U. Some of these had a dedicated GPU (codename Seymour_XT_DDR3), and its vbios is there too.
If one is really intrepid then, he could even try to "port" some of these tweaks to our poor igp.

In other news, I also took the liberty to update microcode (from 0x5000028 to 0x5000029, couldn't be bothered to check for other revs).
Not that anybody with an updated OS in 2017 should be able to miss it.. But w/e.

Too bad updating AGESA looks rocket science (at least on AMI). And I couldn't find where Errata fixes get "added". Aforementioned 221 had a new CpuSmbiosDriver module interestingly.
EDIT: AGESA indeed.
EDIT2: modules should be AmdAgesaDxeDriver and AmdProcessorInitPeim. In all these files AGESA is reported to be OntaroPIV1.2.0.0. Unknown AmiAgesaSetup's function. AmiAgesaSetup is probably what spec call "initializer function".
EDIT3: dafaq, that's like more updated than updatest
