also, just out of curiosity, what are the chances of manually changing options outside of the bios? is that possible? hoping to somehow get my ram running at 1333mhz instead of 1066

Hello people.

I've bricked my laptopt 30 minutes ago.

I'm trying to use phoenix tool, but there's no way to get the original bios back..

It's curious that, the RSA.SIG file doesn't stay in the folder "4 ever", it deletes by itself to the end of the procedure and you only get the main bios file.

Anyone, like camilo Big Grin, can give me a hand? i will apreciate so much.

Thanks to the community!

on mine if you just kind of power it on, it will flash a bios that's on the HP_TOOLS partition from the hdd [EDIT] if you leave it going on its own for a while.. i cant remember how long but it seemed like forever, maybe like 5-10 mins or so

Hi again and thanks for the reply.

I've deleted the hp partition when i made a fresh windows 7 install without all the HP Ship programs.

Now i'm trying to recover the bios using the USB method but i think the laptop is dead..

I've asked in a shop and to recover the bios it's around 70€.

Any ideas?

Thanks again

I remember that the option i've changed in the advanced flashed bios was in the VGA section.

It was Hybrid, and i changed to dGrp( i supose it's discrete graphic.)

Any ideas please?

plz, i have the same problem. I flashed sp55299 advanced menu and the only chenge i made was the gpu. It was setted on Hybrid and i've put it on dGPU. At the reboot blanck screen with f11 and f12 red led.
The trick with "win" + "B" and usb drive made by hp bios uefi tool doesn't work.
Is there a solution?
I've an HP DV6-3010el
Many thanks

Hi mate,

I'm sorry but your bios is totally bricked. Lucky i've got a friend who work in laptop repairing and could fix my dv6.

What's the solution? Desoldering the flash chip, put it on an eeprom flasher then flash it again but... there's more problems. The bios-chip is 4mb, and the bin file you get from HP has lot of garbage. It's 5mb.

I can send you my CLEAN bios, ended with ".FD" and try to reflash it....

I repeat, it's not a semi-brick, it's definitely dead and no recover solution can fix it.

EDIT: The bios is in the attachment files at the end of post

Thanks to all

Let me make some pic's and i'll send it. My motherboard is from a DV6, if they share the same bios, i think would be the same or almost the same motherboard.

I'll keep you posted.

Regards

EDIT: You need a DEsoldering station that's not cheaper, or good solder and hands to doi it manually, that i don't recomend you instead you have some experience.

An eeprom flasher, donno the model, and the ORIGINAL or MODDED CLEAN bios that ended in ".FD" not the ".BIN" that has garbage inside.

Here's the BIOS pic, it's the little chip you see above the northbridge, 8 contacts.

- EDIT -

Could you tell me what is written on that 8 pin chip?? I'm pretty good with solder so i can do it. I need only the hardware to flash your CLEAN BIOS (many thanks again)
