[REQUEST] Acer Aspire E1-571(G) BIOS Unlock

Some Acer's have been known to give an error similar to, "InsydeH20 - Secure Flash. Error : Invalid firmware image!!!", after flashing modded bios through Insyde's Windows flasher. You can bypass this if you flash the modded rom through Acer's recovery procedure. I don't own an Acer, so I don't have a expirece when it comes to that part Tongue

I'll take a look at the bios sometime tommarow.

Thank you for the information, I will have to look more deeply into that. Certainly good to know.

@NewMaxx Sorry it took so long. Got kind of busy yesterday with some other stuff. Try this out and let us know the results Big Grin

Now this could do one of three things: Replace the Security tab with the Advanced tab, do nothing, or brick your computer. So by choosing to test out this file you take full responsibility for the damage that this may cause. There is always some risk when working with bios modding.

Good luck Big Grin

Haha, thanks! Maybe some of the other guys in this thread will do me a service and try it out first. I will get around to doing so by tomorrow, either way. I will inform of the results in this thread, and indeed, will contribute for the development at that point.

I did have to use recovery mode. No luck with that yet, though, it just beeps at me and shuts off, lol.

I'm going to try again later today, but here are the steps to using the recovery mode to flash.

First, you want to format a USB drive using FAT/FAT16. Then you want to copy the files over from the extracted .zip offered in the thread onto the USB drive (you only need the .fd BIOS file, actually). After that, follow steps one through ten here (you can ignore the stuff before 1 and after 10):

http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/284...ost3757013

The only step that might be a bit different is 9, it seems like releasing will get the fan to spin up rather than holding down.

Still just beeps at me (which means it finds the file...any other name and it doesn't do that) and reboots without trying to flash.

I probably take a look at the bios. If you got difficult to make it, I'll probaly help you. I don't know how it works, but you got a tutorial in your signature. I can't use my computer with OH, so why not trying to hack it. (Always, sorry for my english. Smile )

As I said, can't get it to flash in recovery mode. Gives me a few beeps - which means it's finding the correct BIOS name, but not flashing it for some reason. Could possibly flash it manually but don't want to force it until I know why it's refusing. Was hoping some other people would also try but apparently people with other models don't realize they use the same BIOS. Big Grin
